Dining Out
Dining Out A brand-new premium steakhouse, a Greek-Mediterranean dining experience, and two family brunches; HEALTH presents its latest roundup of the best restaurants in Dubai.
Rhain, The Conrad Hotel

One of the most aesthetically delightful spaces I’ve visited in ages with layered gold bulb chandeliers adding depth of light, while log shaped tables infused an earthiness. The flavors here are between Turkish and Western, with their core specialty being premium-grade steaks, lamb chops, sushi and seafood.
We started with their signature Rhain salad—goat’s cheese, fresh figs, walnuts, fresh pomegranate, and lettuce, topped with a balsamic glaze, followed by a beautifully presented shrimp cocktail, served molecular gastronomy style.
Unlike many steakhouses, Rhain is ahead of the game when it comes to gastrotheatrics. From the start to finish, the servers and chefs are slicing, dicing, and cooking with a flourish. Our Wagyu beef sushi was seared to a crisp in front of us and then garnished with avocado and cheese.
Our shared main was their huge signature rack of lamb, sliced ceremoniously at the table by our chef. This was served with mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and asparagus spears.
For the grand finale, we chose to be surprised by their Rhain special; a bespoke platter created differently every time. Ours included fruit, cheese, macaroons, berries, and chocolate sorbet.

AIZA, The Pointe, Palm Jumeirah
AIZA is a home-grown Greek Mediterranean restaurant that presents a multi-sensory dining experience inspired by the authentic flavors and sounds of the Greek islands Santorini, Mykonos, Naxos and Paros. This venue showcased a beautiful ambience with pink trellis trailing the walls and billowy clouds on the celling.
We started with the creamy pumpkin soup with subtle hints of fresh truffle and aromatic chives oil, followed by assorted dishes served in family sharing-style. The cheese pie platter was encased with Anthotyro, graviera cheese, and feta cheese, served with Greek honey and fresh truffle. The Greek meatballs were simple, yet satisfying with Keftedes, crispy filo, tomato sauce, and Greek yogurt.
Another standout was the stacked carrot Mille Feuille, a juxtaposition of carrots, Greek feta mousse, and fresh truffle. And the spinach pie, with spinach feta cheese, garlic yogurt, and spicy tomato jam, was a treat.
For our main, we indulged in their lamb chops, accompanied by mini pitas topped with Tzatziki. These were succulent and really well seasoned. In between we enjoyed traditional Greek dancing and the smashing of plates.
And the grand finale was Loukoumades—honey and cinnamon round donuts, served with Kaimaki ice-cream.

Brasserie 2.0, Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa
In addition to the endless cooking stations, this venue is vibrant with a gorgeous outdoor seating area and even has a live DJ playing 90s music.
There’s an enormous sushi counter with freshly made sushi, including maki, Nori, California roll, and more. The British roast section offered beef Wellington, roasted duck, and chicken, complete with British accompaniments.
The fresh seafood is also expansive, with both hot and cold options available. On offer were king crabs, South American prawns, blue crabs, and much more. I’m a huge salad fan and there were plenty here to choose from—from beetroot with blue cheese to seared tuna. For carnivores, there’s a special section where made-to-order meats were being grilled up as you like. There was a gourmet slant with their mouth-watering Foie Gras stuffed chicken with mushroom gravy.
The sweet treats selection is enormous, offering eclairs, choux pastries, fresh donuts, macaroons, and more. Then my favorites—the berry topped cheesecake and red velvet cake. The chef at the live crepes station created my serving with fresh fruit and cream.

Pots, Pans and Boards Brunch, Nomad, Jumeirah Creekside Hotel
A vibrant art and lifestyle destination in the heart of Dubai, Nomad is a family venue showcasing international cuisine and live music. The mains are served on boards in mini pots and pans for a truly social experience, while the salads/ desserts are self-serve. There was assorted fresh sushi, including my favorite tuna and from the salads, my favorite was the prawn and mango cocktail. But our unanimous favorite was the Fin de Clare oysters.

The mains range from classic British roasts to Eastern styled dishes. My daughter enjoyed her chargrilled beef ribeye with cheesy au gratin potatoes and Béarnaise sauce, while my roasted lamb rack with mashed potatoes and mint jelly was moreish. We also tried the Vietnamese Banh Xeo; a platter with raw vegetables, chicken and prawns with dipping sauces for the freshly made rice pancakes. Another standout was their pancake fantasy complete with turkey bacon, berries, berry compote, and whipped cream. And my chicken tikka masala served with cumin rice and butter naan was really flavorful.
The desserts here are superb—ranging from ice-cream, assorted cakes, brownies, a chocolate fondue fountain, and my favorite, mini flans in a caramel reduction.
