SYMPTOMS of CAROTID ARTERY DISEASE Stroke is one of the common causes of death today. Carotid Artery Disease leads to strokes, as carotid arteries block with regular deposits of fats and cholesterol in the blood stream. A warning stroke usually happens before your body experiences a full blown stroke, called the TIA or Transient Ischemic Attack. A stroke might happen when the arteries get blocked providing little or no blood supply to the brain, or if there is blood clots in the arteries. Another reason for a stroke can be a ruptured artery. Carotid Artery Disease can be detected with the help of an ultrasound scan of the neck that provides the technician with an image of the obstructed artery.
