Step into a New Life with High Definition Women’s Network!

nnovative, Influential and Inspiring are just a few words to describe the Visionary and Chief Inspiration Ambassador™ Dr. Sonya R. Hamm. Her selfless contributions to help others achieve personal and financial success has paved the way for her to be recognized and awarded the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from President Barack Obama along with many other distinguished accomplishments.

So, exactly what is this hidden powerhouse doing to gain such honored recognition one might ask? The answer is simple; Dr. Sonya R. Hamm is actively following her passion of “Inspiring Women to Emerge, Excel and Expand in their Purpose, Power and Profitability.” Hamm founded High Definition Women’s Network in 2015 and launched the first HD Women’s conference in Atlanta, GA with keynote speakers Pastor Deborah Morton of Greater St. Stephens Church New Orleans, LA; Millionairess Jewel Tankard of Destiny Christian Center, Murfreesboro, TN and Gospel music singer Michael Stampley of Atlanta, GA. Recognizing the impact of the changing family structure on the position, roles and responsibilities of women in today’s society, Dr. Sonya sensed a strong call to action to create a platform that would bring awareness, bridge gaps and provide opportunities for women to succeed. For this reason, High Definition Women’s Network is all lifting women into a place of visual distinction through which others can be inspired to Emerge, Excel and Expand in their Purpose, Power and Profitability! Through the engaging, energetic, high impact HD platform, women are inspired to discover their purpose, embrace their power and create a profitable life to influence the world for greater good. The name High Definition was derived from the scripture found in 2 Corinthians 3:18 which says, “Now all of us, with our faces unveiled, reflect the glory of the Lord as if we are mirrors; and so we are being transformed, metamorphosed, into His

same image from one radiance of glory to another, just as the Spirit of the Lord accomplishes it. (MSG Translation). The word High is to be lifted above all and Definition speaks of the distinction and visual clarity of something such as an image. When women take on the title, “High Definition Woman,” it serves as a reminder that they are regal, classy, elegant, brilliant, powerful, bold, fearless, confident, fierce, influential and courageous women who bring glory to God. Dr. Sonya believes High Definition speaks to the core of our identity as women and the gifts, talents and power we carry to effect change and bring glory to God in our realm of influence. It is her belief that every woman is a High Definition Woman! As one of the nation’s premiere Kingdom Lifestyle Ministries with a focus on empowering the faith, finances and future of women, Dr. Sonya and her dream team are actively growing a massive following of diverse women from around the nation. The mission of High Definition Women’s Network is simple—empowering women to BE! The passion in Hamm’s heart became evident as she said, “Too many women have resigned to living a stuck, stagnant and stale life because they do not have a network of supportive mentors and friends to inspire them to maximize their full potential in God—HD Women’s Network is a mission to change that! I believe every woman is High Definition which is why High Definition Women’s Network is here to help women discover their God ordained brilliance and “Live Life in High Definition.” An integral woman of influence, Dr. Sonya is a profound speaker, leader, author, entrepreneur and mentor residing in the metro Atlanta, GA area with her husband, Dr. Ronald Hamm. She is the proud mother of three amazing children— Brynique, Tynesia and Je’Ron and 4 adorable grand children, Brycen, Jordynn, Mason and MaKenzie. Dr. Sonya received her Master’s in Christian Counseling and Psychology and Doctorate of Theology degrees from Freedom Bible College & Seminary of Rogers, Arkansas. HD LifeStyle

KEEP SHOWING UP FOR LOVE: I feel like I’m best friends with LOVE! As far back as I can remember I have been what some call a “hopeless romantic.” I love to watch people in love. I get excited when people I love find love. Sometimes my love of love has gotten me into “situations” that taught me some painful lessons about love. I have been betrayed by people who said they loved me. There have been times I hated love. Love has transformed me but it took me consistently showing up again and again. I have had some amazing relationships that have made me who I am today. I am sure you too have had some wonderful relationships (at least they started that way) that have taught you much. Love has walked me through divorce, miscarriage, abortions, post partum depression and has led me to the most beautiful relationship of my adult life.

When I wanted to give up, LOVE kept me going. Still, I can’t help but think how different my life would be if my three-yes, three children--I conceived had been born and a part of my world. I still get sad at times, even as I write this, to imagine “what could have been” if I was responsible for three daughters and one son at this time in my life. My first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. I remember that period in my life like it was yesterday. I was a junior in college, on a full athletic scholarship. I was excited about being pregnant. I was willing to walk away from my basketball scholarship and from people’s opinions. The baby’s father wanted me to have an abortion. I adamantly refused. Then it happened. I remember the night I went into premature labor at 12 weeks. It was 1986. I was in the emergency room alone and afraid. In the midst of trauma, my re-

The Power of Forgiving Yourself lationship with God truly began. That night God let me know that He was with me even when the baby’s father wasn’t. Years later, after the birth of my daughter, I got pregnant from someone whom I loved and still love deeply, but the relationship was a secret. It’s ironic how “before accepting Christ” I was fearless and willing to go through the fire to have my baby. But this time it was different. I was scared and bound by thoughts of shame, humiliation and other people’s opinions. The baby’s father was caught in the same web of questions. He persuaded me that we both had “too much to lose” if I had the baby so I had an abortion. This too was another baby I wanted badly. The baby’s father paid for the abortion and that was the extent of his involvement. As far as I’m concerned, I went through that experience alone too. Once again God let me know that He was with me even if the baby’s father wasn’t. At first I felt relief. Then the thoughts of regret, anger, resentment, hurt and loss began to periodically overwhelm me. What had I done? Why did I do it? I had an abortion so EVERYBODY ELSE would be okay. What about me? There I was “in Christ,” where I should have been the most secure, feeling insecure and fragile. I wondered if this was something I would have to deal with for the rest of my life. A couple more years passed and I was doing okay until I got pregnant AGAIN in yet another “secret relationship.” This time, I thought about what I wanted and how happy this baby would make me. However, that did not last long. The baby’s father and I were both married to other people. Too many people would be hurt. I thought about taking my daughter, running away and having the baby on my own. After much thought and discussion with the baby’s father, I convinced myself AGAIN that

aborting our unborn daughter was the best thing for everybody else. The relief only lasted a few hours this time. Later that same day, the waves of guilt and regret began to wash over me. With that same intensity, the guilt lasted for the next several months until “all of a sudden” I felt the anguish of conceiving yet not having three babies. I hid my pain from people. Once again, God let me know that He was there with me. I was holding so much inside I should have exploded. Eventually I cried out to God. I repented for rejecting His gifts. I asked God for help because I could not live like that anymore. The guilt was secretly taking over my life. The first thing God did was “turn up” His love for me through my daughter. She was and still is my “Earth Angel”. One day God allowed me to hear Pastor Jack Hayford on the radio. He was talking to women who had experienced abortions. I was stunned. He encouraged listeners to request his book entitled, I’ll Hold You In Heaven. That book was the beginning of my healing. I still have sentimental moments now and then. God’s love made provisions for my bad choices. His love forgives me and enables me to forgive myself. The last thing I did (and maybe this will help someone), is I created a memorial for the children I conceived that didn’t make it here. It’s not important what the memorial is just create one. Plant a garden. Start a project. Whatever you do don’t act like it never happened because it did. Honor your child’s memory in a way that is meaningful to you. Choose something that brings life back to your life. Now when I show up for love I bring love with me and the results have been…just lovely! It’s Time to Unlock Your Emotional Freedom! I have a question for you. Who do you feel is re-

sponsible for your happiness? The Bible is clear that God wants us to have peace and joy. For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Romans 14:17 NLT) The question is not whether or we can have happiness, joy and peace. The dilemma is how we break free from the emotional chains that keep us tied to a life of bondage, brokenness and bitterness. This articles covers the process for you to take responsibility for your happiness. The steps you can take to use the power of God available to you to unlock the joy within, which has always been available to you. It’s time to UNLOCK YOUR EMOTIONAL FREEDOM! It’s time to take your abundant living to the NEXT DIMENSION! Step 1. BECOME CONSCIOUS! Consciousness is the degree to which you are AWARE that you are NOT your MIND. There is a separation between “the spirit being” that you are and the emotions, thoughts, feelings, past experiences, and voice within that run your life. Your mind is the filter for everything you experience, however, you must learn to step back from the mind and become an observer of your life so you can make conscious decisions. To be emotionally unconscious means that you focus on everything and everyone except you. The inner you who identifies as spirit and as an extension of God is smothered by the mind. The part of you that knows the things that happened to you are not really the issue. What matters is your emotional response and the decisions that follow. To help peel back the layers of this topic, I came up with several tiers of awareness that I call, the Levels of Consciousness. They are not absolute, and there may be some overlap. It is possible to be at a certain level and then life happens and you transition to a different level of consciousness (i.e., death, illness, break up, depression, etc.). Interpret and apply them to your life, as you see fit. A. No Consciousness – You are not conscious at all. There is no separation between your mind and your spirit. Your life is impulsive, emotional, whimsical, sporadic, dependent, judgmental, and toxic. B. Semi-Consciousness – You operate at some level of awareness, but have very little control. You say

most of the things that come to your mind, and then feel bad. Most people stay at this level for a long time, because we are trained to see ourselves as evil; our passions and desires are not to be explored and reconciled but rather are things to be conquered, so that we can “be good.” The truth is WE ARE ALREADY WONDERFUL, because we are spirit beings. C. Emerging Consciousness – This level is where more awareness exists. We realize there is more to “life” than just going through the motions. In Christianity, we begin to want “more” but there is a void that going through the motions does not fix. There is more separation between us; however, we are still deeply attached to our minds and outcomes. We want to BE HAPPY and FEEL JOY, but our trained mindset keep us trapped in our current way of life. At this level, the work truly begins. We go deeper in the process of being engaged in practices to help us grow and we start to watch what we are thinking. Christians might call this the “war” between the flesh and the spirit; however, growth is taking place. D. Evolved Consciousness. This is where we want to be: fully aware either most or all of the time. We have learned to be completely detached from outcomes. We have no thoughts about what is said or done, or, the thoughts are short-lived. We learn that worrying does not change what will happen in the external world around us. Worrying only affects our inner state, and the energy we emit to the world around us. Through this energy we attract the very thing we are worrying about, which the mind justifies as our worries being substantiated. These all point to a level of awareness that we are not our circumstances! You are not any of the thoughts you have. They are JUST THOUGHTS! Step 2. DO THE WORK! In my Unlock Your Life ~ LifePOWER Master Course you can take your POWER back and begin to make conscious choices about your life. LifePOWER helps you let go and focus on the only part that matters! YOU! Four simple steps from the Principles of LifePOWER to get you started in the process of doing the work. A. Believe in YOU – POTENTIAL B. Be protective of YOU – PARAMETERS C. Be strategically YOU – PLANNING D. Be proactive for YOU – PERFORMING Remember, emotional freedom requires a new mindset. As a woman thinks in her heart SHE IS! May your emotional freedom manifest quickly and last forever. HD LifeStyle

“TAKE CHARGE” NATION Born the middle child to ministers Bishop William and Rose Kilby, Cynthia is a force to be reckoned with within the marketplace. Having spent her life as a “P.K.” (Pastor’s Kid), Cynthia felt the call of God to ministry at an early age. This calling wasn’t behind the pulpit of the four walls of the church, but a calling into Marketplace Ministry. Cynthia often says, “the real work of ministry is in the marketplace. Marketplace Ministers are a new breed of ministers called by God to expand the Kingdom outside the four walls of our local churches. Marketplace Ministers possess the personality, calling, gifting and ministry to reach the hearts of our cities and all of our society. God is strategically positioning Marketplace Ministers throughout all areas of society whether it’s in business, government, education, entertainment, services, communication, transportation, agriculture, social services and the arts.” It is Cynthia’s desire to inspire and propel Christians into this move of God. Cynthia’s passion is to help others find their place in marketplace ministry, thus the “TAKE CHARGE” Nation was born. TAKE CHARGE Nation is a network of entrepreneurs and professionals who have accepted the mantel of ministry into the Marketplace. Cynthia has been a full-time entrepreneur and Marketetplace Minister for the past 25 years. Network Marketing has always been one of the vehicles God has provided for Cynthia to use as her platform. Through this platform, Cynthia has mentored thousands of people helping them to transform their lives and improve their bank accounts. In addition, Cynthia’s network marketing

ventures have been used to finance other entrepreneurial ventures. One of Cynthia’s most profitable business ventures to date is being the owner of the first natural hair salon Franchise “Twist & Go” for people of color. What makes “Twist & Go” so unique is that you can choose from 7 Signature WOW natural hair styles for just $50 bucks! The salon offers a hair club membership which includes 4 salon visits within a month for $150! The Queen with the Skeleton Tattoo I have a skeleton tattoo on my arm, along with the message, “Death Before Dishonor.” I got this tattoo when I was 17 years old while serving in the United States Army. The message behind it is pretty simple: I will die before I dishonor God, my family and my country. Pretty deep for a teenager, I must admit. However, until this day, I hold those values deep in my heart. As a Captain in the Army. I was taught to hold myself to a high standard and when needed I was to remind my soldiers to have high-standards for themselves. High standards meaning; giving your 100 percent. Not giving up when the pressure gets tough and don’t half-do anything. Refuse to lower your standards to meet someone’s personal standards. If they don’t rise to the occasion, they were not meant to be in your company. I am going to give you a little snippet of how I view “high standards” or what I call “Stand Tall, Look Good, Kick Butt and Repeat.”

3. Kick Butt - “A characteristic of a true leader is one who does not simply sit at a table to complain about a problem, they instead sit down with the problem in the left hand and three potential solutions in the right.”-Raquel Riley Thomas 4. Repeat - “The moment you become optimistic and recognize you are worthy of better; your whole being will shift. It is then that you will surround yourself with thinkers and doers. You change your outlook, you change your world.”-Raquel Riley Thomas Follow the above steps to jump start your life again. You will be Standing Tall. Looking Good. Kicking Butt. Repeating. You will soon start to see life differently and become more optimistic. You will also start to see that people are taking notice and you won’t have to brag about it. Remember a lion never has to tell someone it’s a lion. God Speed!

Look Good, Kick Butt and Repeat.” 1. Stand Tall - “Say what you wish in abuse of me, for my silence towards the idiot is indeed an answer. I am not at a loss for a response; but rather, it does not befit the lion to answer the dogs.” -Imam Ash-Shafi’i 2. Look Good - “Dress as if you own the bank, not like you need a loan.”Unknown HD LifeStyle

She stays up to speed with the ever changing food and liquor industry by regularly attending local culinary classes, workshops and has also worked with notable chefs in the Miami area as well as Las Vegas. Randi has become a food mentor to many busy moms that she meets through work, school and youth sport-

ing events. Her evenings are often spent in the “lab” testing out new dishes, and returning calls and emails to friends, looking for recipes or for ideas on how to make tasty but quick dishes for the family. Because she enjoys sharing her love of food so much, this holiday season, you can find her live on her own YouTube network with a show produced by her 14 year old daughter. In addition to YouTube you can often find fun eventful posts of Randi’s recipes and creations via her Facebook, Instagram and SnapChat feeds. She always finds a fun and humorous way to capture her audience’s attention. Also, this fall she will be launching another new concept, desserts! And lookout for the Spring of 2019, as her new food truck will be on the road! A close knit family has been the key to Randi’s overall success. Her two children have even picked up the niche and enjoy spending quality time with mom in the kitchen. Her entire family works together to create meals that warm the heart, bring people closer and make parties to remember. “As a child I always came home to the smell of sultry cuisine and smooth tunes on the radio. To this day my family gathers and with no pre-planning we end up in the kitchen, sipping wine and creating a festive meal. My true love will always be creating a smile, one forkful at a time. I am a publisher, author, speaker, I am Nicole Rogers! I live by my motto “I Aspire to Inspire” and with that I motivate, uplift and empower all to pursue their passions and follow their dreams. I speak on the importance of believing in yourself, changing your mindset, getting to know YOU and focusing on your bigger picture. Throughout life we face many challenges and sometimes it gets the best of us. Other times we handle it like a walk in the park. How strong our faith is will determine how we handle these challenges. If we know and understand who we are and what our bigger picture is we will then realize we have the power to WIN!

You also have to understand that it takes faith. I see where I started from and I see where I am going, but in between, I’m still praying and asking God to guide my footsteps. Failure Is Not An Option Several years ago I had to take an honest look in the mirror. I had to have a no judgment executive meeting with myself. That meeting led to this necessary transparent moment. “Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” Francis of Assissi I did it! I was earning a comfortable six-figure income. I had the corner office that included a conference table with chairs, three large picture windows overlooking a well-maintained park. I had support staff and a team of professionals I managed. I was making major decisions and boss moves. I was successfully launching my children into young adulthood. I was getting promoted in my area of spiritual practice. The date was set for my ordination in the Christian faith. From the outside looking in, I had it all. Everything looked great. What more could I possibly want? I wanted lots more. I was stuck inside a box, with limited options, and screaming to break free. Boxed in and hampered by the opinions of others, the fear of failure, imposter syndrome, doubt, and not feeling I was enough. Boxed in by limitations placed on me by others; I’m a woman, I’m black, I’m middle-aged, I’m divorced, and so on. I had to get outside-the-box of limiting beliefs I not only created for myself but also those implied by others. I had to get out of my own way to enjoy the FREEDOM to have, to do, and to be who I wanted to be. Failure was NOT an option. I uncovered and dealt with my limiting beliefs to start my business, get ordained, write a few books, speak professionally, and become a John Maxwell Certified Coach, Speaker, Teacher, and Trainer. But I wasn’t always so clear on how to achieve the life I wanted. Following are my motto: believe, create, and manifest which are also the three steps I took to achieve success and I help other middle-aged women do the same: Believe in my valued self. I had to remind my44

self of the total value that I bring to the table; experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Create my revised story. I stopped telling myself the negative stuff, I’m too old, I’m a woman, I’ve failed, etc. to keep me from starting my business, getting ordained, writing books, speaking professionally, etc. Instead of seeing my middle-age as a curse, I revised my story-narrative. My middle-age is a blessing because it facilitates the value I bring to the table! Manifest my unique S.H.I.N.E.TM Anytime I felt the self-limiting beliefs creeping up into my mind and my soul I encourage myself to ‘S.H.I.N.E.’ ‘S.H.I.N.E.’ is an acronym I created to remind me of steps 1 and 2 and to show up, honestly, intentionally, no excuses. “Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.” Carol Burnett Exercising my motto is not a one-and-done-deal. In fact, I have to reflect an practice daily, in the midst of competing priorities, the needs of others, haunting self-limiting belief systems, etc. daily, I have to choose me, first. It takes positive self-talk, discovering better options, and some of my ‘today I choose me proclamations’ or reminders: Today I choose me because when I take care of myself because I should bring my best self to the table of life. Today I choose me because I lead by example and I want to be an example of overall success; career/business, relationships, finances, and health. Today I choose me because my millennials are watching and I want them to see living a life you love is possible. Today I choose me because the life I live will speak louder than the words I speak. Today I choose me because everything I need to succeed is already inside of me. I have to find, cultivate, and manifest it. Today I choose me because if I don’t, who will?

On a springy day in May, I made my debut to the earth. Like most baby girls, I was greeted with a large family and many smiles. A bubbly, but mild-tempered child, number eight of the nine children born to my mother, I would soon learn the frailties of dysfunctional, large-family dynamics. From the time I was born, I drank of the grim waters of “losing things.” At the time of my birth most of my siblings were already grown, so there was a “lost” childhood- memory book featuring them. At the tender age of eleven, I lost the man I knew as my father to a stroke. My mother quickly married a man twice her elder and he took my innocence, my home, my mother, and almost…my mind. These turns of events caused me to fight to find an escape; that escape looked like marriage. With that decision, I almost lost my life at the hands of my ex husband. Just as any butterfly has a dark cocoon to trounce; I overcame the dark scars of mental, physical, and sexual abuse! Today, I am a high school and college graduate x 3, a nurse, a ordained minister, a certified Marriage counselor, and a business owner, a happily married wife, a proud mother of four, and a fiery motivational speaker! I enjoy being involved in the community, meeting new people, and serving others to bring about wholeness—from my home to the world. I aspires to do more! I have purposed to take my passion to inspire others from the four walls to the nation. My goal is to promote higher self- esteem, self worth & walking in purpose. I not only want to educate others in self worth & Marriage but I want to empower people with the Word of God that has been the comfort and strong tower throughout my many life-challenges. My motto is,

“You see the glory, but just wait until you hear the story!” 46

Our personal stories empower us to triumph and destroy strongholds that often consume our lives, thoughts and actions.

peaking from our heart allows others to experience the core of who we are; rather than simply talking from our mind. Saying what we think people want to hear does not move others to authentic desired results. However, an opened heart creates an opportunity for multifaceted genuine connections. Our experiences are not intended to remain our own plethora of events intertwining to sound good. Our journey is intended “to serve” when we truly show up for others. Some personal experiences manifest emotional or mental scars while others grow deep; they are as deep as the unseen roots of the sacred Lotus flower. The path of life that we tread may feel liken to the photosynthesis process of the Lotus Flower, with its roots seated deep in dirty murky water, yet the positive outcome when the flower is fully developed, is its breathtaking beauty. When the Lotus has blossom, it rises to the surface. I’ve had to humbly find the strength to totally rise above chaos, trauma, pain and self-inflicted thoughts of inadequacies; allowing my inner beauty to exude. A beauty that holistically awakens a spiritual rebirth that embodies wisdom and peace, authentically combined with a commitment first towards self and then empowering others. We are filled with positive desires for enriched and untouched lives, that symbolize pureness. Ultimately representing a long life full of enlightenment and strength bringing with it restoration of spirit. Throughout my journey, I have and will continue to serve others through empowerment. Serving those who are possibly struggling with identity awareness, low self-esteem, depression, suicide or other life altering issues. It is important to break the chains of silence, to provide hope and a safe space to those facing real life dynamics. Serving others has been most successful by utilizing clinical training, biblical yet practical principles, and most importantly personal experiences, challenges and victories. Implementing these traits are practices which have led me to a place of profound purposeful peace.

At some point in our lives, we’ve been hurt or disappointed, requiring inner healing from physical, mental, emotional or verbal abuse; which begins with self-love, acceptance and growth; enabling us with the ability to forgive self and others. Whatever the struggle, remember that your truth is yours, SO OWN IT! By authentically owning your truth, you will produce the Spiritual Excellence that Empowers you that no one can ever take away unless you decide to give it away. HD LifeStyle

HOW TO SHOW UP GREAT Introduction: As a kid, my Mom called her bedroom “the parlor.” It was there that she would provide life’s lessons on various topics. The one topic that she spent a great deal of time on was Confidence. She understood that I would need confidence to survive and thrive in this world. She was famous for her many sayings, “Nicole, you don’t ask for respect, you demand it.” “When you walk into a room, it’s not about what you have on, it’s about the way you show up.” My Mom was very intentional about pouring confidence into me and imparting courage into my heart. I have come to know that my experience with my Mom was not necessarily the norm for many women. So, I use the principles she taught me in my work with the women I To Show Up Great, you need the 3 Power Cs: Confidence: It is important to know who you are at your core. You must learn to be unapologetically bold, brilliant and beautiful and not apologize for any of those characteristics. It is important to note that the world and its systems are designed to keep all of us, “in our place.” But, when you come into an awareness of who you are and what you have been called to do, you then become a force to be reckoned with. Confidence is built from the inside out. No one can make you more confident. Building confidence is very personal, and it must be intentional. You can, however, increase your ability to gain confidence by surrounding yourself with others that are confident and gleaning from the way they show up, how they live life and how they thrive after being knocked down by life’s situations and circumstances. We all need examples of living life and not allowing life to throw us

around. For me, my Mom was that example, and I continue to live out the lessons she taught me “in the parlor,” and I help other women do likewise. Competence: You must “know your stuff!” I once attended a meeting with one of my mentors, and the senior female leader in the room said, “The worst thing that a woman can be is vogue but vague.” Let that sink in. She was alluding to the fact that so many women concentrate on looking good, as opposed to thinking good. It was a moment that I shall never forget, because the woman making the statement understood that it was not her clothes that got her where she was and it certainly wasn’t going to be her clothes that would keep her there. She was the only woman in a sea of men at the highest levels of the organization, and she was setting an example for the other women in the organization to think more broadly than given credit or even what the men were expecting. This observation and experience still rings true for me today. I am the first and only African American female to hold the senior Diversity position in my organization. I am clear that my Mom’s principles and her constant love and life lessons prepared me to be the trailblazer that I am today! Courage: It is my belief that courage is the byproduct or the result of having confidence and competence. Courage helps you take bold steps and make power moves in your life. Being the first and only female senior leader in my organization requires loads of courage, to say the least. Courage will push you to provoke others in your space, sometimes without even trying. Courage is an energy that overwhelms you, leads, guides and directs you, so that you can make impact and bring change to the Earth! It is important to tap

into the courage that lies within you, because someone is waiting for you to lead the way for them. It is my belief that courage is in our DNA! When I think of my Grandmother, who only had an 8th grade education but successfully operated her dry cleaning business for over 50 years, I know that courage is in my DNA. When I think of my Grandfather, who taught himself to sew because there were too many kids in his family for him to have any decent clothing, so he made a decision to do something about his situation, I know that courage is in my DNA. When I think of my great Grandfather, who was able to acquire over 150 acres of land in South Carolina in the early 1900s, I know that courage is in my DNA. As we continue to flow in this SHIFT in the Earth where women are rising up to take positions of power, it is our duty and obligation to SHOW UP GREAT! Our ancestors are watching and cheering for us to build on the foundation that has been laid, learn the lessons from the legacy that has been provided and pass the baton on to the next generation of leaders, so they can SHOW UP GREAT with confidence, competence and courage! I have a yearning to serve my community by being a source of strength, empowerment, and proving an empathetic ear. In addition, I feel I have the basic tools for individuals that may be experiencing grief, physical disabilities, caregiver burnout as well as victims of emotional and sexual abuse. My heart is filled with compassion and empathy for people that are hurting emotionally and grieving any form of loss. I was fortunate to come out on the other side of such a dark place and become the strongest than I have ever been in my life.

It is my divine assignment to pay it forward by being in place to assist and support others in their dark place and to receive them coming out on the other side of it. I know without a shadow of doubt that this career field is aligned with my divine purpose.

What are obstacles you have had to overcome?

and response to failure.” What we have to remember is that mistakes are not always permanent makers.

n February 2005, I was selected to receive an award for the “BEST 2005 African-American Woman of the Year” by a non-profit organization in the community, Creative Visions Social Services. Needless to say, this was quite an honor for me. But I was doubly blessed when they asked me also to be the keynote speaker for this wonderful ceremonial occasion. Weeks before the event, however, I found myself praying really hard asking God to give me the right thing to impart into the people’s spirits that would be attending.

Here are some lifelong tips to help you navigate through life when disappointments and challenges come your way. Be more solution conscious, than problem conscious – If we are going to achieve all that God has for us in this life, we must be more solution conscious, than problem conscious. It is always easier to point out the problem, but it takes a bigger person to see the solution. Think of yourself as being a global solutionist and you will see problems in another way.

You see, the power to achieve is inside all of us. But it is what we do with this power that is the demarcation of whether we are going to be successful or not. That night I wanted to make sure that my speech would connect with each’s person destiny in the room. Many people struggle to succeed in life as well as allow failure to be their gauge whether to continue moving forward or not. John Maxwell, author and leadership coach, said it right, “The difference between average people and achieving people is their perception of

Be a bridge, instead of a wall – A wall is an upright structure used to enclose or divide. A bridge is also a structure, but it is used to cross over on; it is a passage, gateway or gate. Granted, both of these entities are structures, but one withholds and the other releases. One hinders and one supports. You want to always be a bridge in life because what you make happen for others, God truly will make happen for you, however, it might be in a different form.Be an advocate, instead of an adversary – Many people are known by what they are against. As people of destiny, we

HD Lifestyle

need to be recognized for what we are for and not what we are against. Because of my work in the community now, I am known as a Reconciliation Advocate or a Network Specialist. Both of these terms imply that I am against racism and bigotry. But I would rather be known as a Reconciliation Advocate than one who hates bigots. Do you see the difference? Be someone who stirs up people’s gifts and not one who stifles them – When we add value to people’s lives, we, in actuality, are making the world a better place. We can never go wrong encouraging others and extending ourselves to be a bridge to help others get to the other side. People are always our best commodity to invest in. If you help enough people get what they want, you will become empowered to get everything you want in life. This is my life’s mission and passion – to help others get what they want or be all they can be. Yes, I know sometimes people might take advantage of you, but I always retain the right or privilege when to stop supporting or giving to someone. There have been some instances that I had to do this, but I know I gave them my best when I was working with them. Purpose is about giving, not getting.

MOMMA’S WORDS OF WISDOM As I ponder what Words of Wisdom to share many things come to mind for discussion; the world situation, the young people called the millennial generation, gun violence, racism and the list of topics grows until you wonder where to begin. Perhaps the best way is by saying, “Our Father Who Art in Heaven… you know the rest. The Lord’s Prayer is the prayer Jesus said we should always pray. Our heavenly Father, that sits high and looks low, one who knows our thoughts, our every move and one who provides all our needs. You pray like this because with God all things are possible and with Him you can weather the many storms of life. At the young age of 18, I met the man I believe I was destined to spend my life with; I say destined because it was over 50 years ago and we’re still together enjoying life. Through the years there have been a lot of storms to weather as we set out to discover life and raise a family of four children together. There were plenty of give up moments, but it was always prayer that gave me the strength to stand strong and cover my family. In my younger years, I didn’t always see how through prayer, I was slowly making a connection with God, although I wasn’t always in church; yet God’s grace was always there protecting and guiding me. You will be tempted to quit but the one constant is God’s love, protection and provision, to which you always have a constant connection through Prayer. Never forget to pray!

Delores V. Guynn

I can remember once wondering about myself and being saved, after a while I thought, “if I were not a Christian I would hate but hatred wasn’t the feeling I had, I didn’t have hate and maybe not love but I knew the power of prayer and that was the answer….Prayer.” Pray without ceasing, you will receive an answer. There are no battles that we have to fight on our own, give it to Jesus in prayer and He will fight your battles. You see, becoming a Christian doesn’t mean you stop living life; it means you learn how to live life differently with God as your source of strength. My word of wisdom is pray without ceasing as you navigate the obstacle course called life. It has many twists and turns, people will come and go, failure is unavoidable, you will be tempted to quit but the one constant is God’s love, protection and provision, to which you always have a constant connection through Prayer. Never forget to pray!

What is wisdom? Scripture says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 1:7) Wisdom is a principle thing, it’s knowing what to do with what you have. So where do you get wisdom? Wisdom comes by way of Salvation from the Lord. The world we live in can make it quite difficult to keep our salvation. How do we keep this gift that the bible says its more precious than rubies? The Lord says in Luke 9:23 “23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” Let no man deceive you, for she (wisdom) is the tree of life for those who take hold of her and retain her. (Proverbs 3:18) So the answer is simple, wisdom is walking daily with the Lord. Stay with the Lord He is your only Help.

Blessed Kiss Cosmetics

Blessed Kiss Cosmetics is a luxury cosmetics brand founded by Callie Green and Manika Dodson in August of 2016. We launched our business in the San Francisco Bay Area where we both were raised. While working full-time and supporting our families we hungered for something more fulfilling. Our vision began during our lunch break as we discussed our dreams and passion for entrepreneurship. We then decided to start our very own cosmetic company. Our mission is to offer great quality products and to encourage, empower and uplift women of all ages, colors, sizes and cultures. We currently offer a full line of luxury lip products ranging

from bold liquid lipsticks, lip glosses, lip pencils, classic cream and matte lipsticks, as well as cosmetic lip glitters to enhance your lip color for an added shimmer. Our products are U.S and Canadian made, paraben free, crueltyfree and allergy tested for sensitive skin. We also offer products that are infused with vitamin E for moisture and a line of certified vegan products. We truly enjoy connecting and networking with women and to us it really is the most fulfilling part of our business. When we meet women we share testimonials and encourage women through our line of cosmetics to step outside of their comfort

zone. We encourage them to be bold and try unfamiliar products; have fun and try new colors and textures to discover the enhancements that our products bring to their beautiful skin tones. Blessed Kiss believes, “true beauty is spiritual”, not just physical. All women regardless of size or nationality can feel confident wearing any lip color. What we wear is seen on the outside but inner beauty illuminates from within.

HABITS of POVERTY

Do You Know Your Financial DNA? Financial DNA is a metaphor used to describe the genetic financial code transferred to each of us from our families of origin. In essence your Financial DNA is comprised of the internal beliefs, thoughts and behavior patterns associated with money, which ultimately determines a person’s income level, standard of living, business potential and ability to advance financially. Have you ever wondered why your financial progress is slow, or why you continue to stay at a certain pay level, or worse yet, why it’s difficult to break the cycle of debt or save money for the future? Why do some people achieve massive financial success while others seem to fail? The answer is, “Most people do not know their Financial DNA,” (genetic financial code) that was programmed in them from early childhood.” In short, our Financial DNA

62

by Dr. Sonya R. Hamm

was formed by the credible people who shaped and influenced our beliefs about money and success in early childhood. Sadly, too many people leave their home of origin and never examine or develop their personal beliefs beyond what they were taught growing up. The good news about our Financial DNA is we have the power to reprogram and change it! If you were raised in an environment of lack, just enough or never enough, you can take your power back and transform your Financial DNA to wealth and abundance! The key to reprogramming your Financial DNA is to recognize “The 10 Habits of Poverty,” that often perpetuate patterns of financial lack and transform them into “10 Habits of Wealth. Once you change the negative habits you will immediately begin to move from poverty and lack to wealth and unlimited abundance.

Everyone has been given the power and ability to create a lifestyle of wealth, health and good success, to include you! However, the ability to create wealth is not automatic—it has to be developed through determined action. The first step is to identify how many of the “10 Habits of Poverty,” are currently undermining your desire for a new Financial DNA of Wealth. The second step is to make a decision to take immediate action to transform at least two habits of poverty into positive habits of wealth. The third and final step is to stay the course until you reach the financial goals you desire to achieve.

TENHABITSOFPOVERTY 1. Lack of Positive Attitude – Your attitude about money will determine your altitude with money. Moving from poverty or lack to wealth begins with transforming your mind.

2. Lack of Confidence – The stronger your confidence is the greater your opportunities will be to build wealth. Many people fear they don’t know enough about money to create wealth. The truth is, you can start learning today. You are not confined to your own strength and ability when you allow God to guide you. Declare daily: I can do All things through Christ! 3. Lack of Vision – Money flows to vision! The Word of God is clear that we need vision in order to succeed and this includes your finances. Stop; take a moment to write your financial vision on paper. Start with one thing and add to it. You will visit your vision often to refine it as you grow and reach your desired goals. (Proverbs 17:16)

shy of their financial breakthrough. Once you commit to creating wealth it may take time to see external results. The key to your success will always be connected to your diligence. The hand of the diligent shall be made rich! He becomes poor that deals with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent makes rich. (Proverbs 10:5 KJV) 6. Lack of Giving – Develop the Habit of Giving! It is im-

destruction and wealth can only be acquired through patient endurance. Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty. (Proverbs 21:5) 9. Lack of Organization – There are many working parts to a strong financial plan and organization is the key to maintaining due dates, important documents, and payment history to name a few. Financial organization saves time, energy and late fees! Prepare your work outside; get everything ready for yourself in the field, and after that build your house. (Proverbs 24:27)

Welcome to your new financial DNA of wealth and good Success

4. Lack of Discipline – Wealthy people are disciplined in their spending and with their time. Establish a spending plan and stick to it no matter what or who attempts to distract you. Poverty and disgrace come to those who ignore discipline, but the one who accepts correction will be honored. (Proverbs 13 :18) 5. Lack of Diligence – Too many people give up just

possible to reprogram your Financial DNA to Wealth without giving! The quickest way to open the doors of financial increase is to begin giving. Giving attracts wealth—it’s a promise! The liberal (giving) soul shall be made rich! (Proverbs 11:25) 7. Lack of Integrity- A habit of dishonesty with yourself and others only leads to setbacks and delay. Integrity is doing the right thing when nobody is looking. Establish your plan and honor it at all times.

10. Lack of Priorities – Count the cost of living an unfilled life of lack and establish priorities so that doesn’t become your story. In all things remember our first priority is to honor God, who is the source of all things. Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the first and best part of all your income. (Proverbs 3:9) The foundation of all financial success begins with our financial habits! Change your habits and you will change your financial condition almost instantly.
