Getting to Know our Vice Principals

HDCH has two Vice Principals who share the role of VP of Learning: Jonathan DeVries and Sara Whetstone. Jonathan and Sara lead Professional Development for HD’s teachers, learning support workers, and Service and Support staff, among other duties.

Jonathan is one of our visual arts teachers and cross-country coach. He has been part of the HD team for over 11 years. Before joining the team at HD, Jonathan taught in Strathroy and Drayton. He commutes from his home in rural Simcoe, where he lives with his wife Monica, their three boys, their dog, and backyard chickens.

Sara teaches drama at HD and is the Producer and Co-Director of the school play. This year, HD presents “Peter Pan and Wendy”. Sara has been teaching at the school for over 8 years. Before joining the team at HD, Sara worked at Calvin Christian School. She is an HD alumna (‘94), as are three of her daughters, and she also has a daughter in grade 11. Caledonia is home for Sara, her husband Joe, and their family. h
