The Travelling Mug

The “Travelling Mug”, a vessel for hospitality, was recently offered in the HDCH Spring Fundraiser Online auction. It was advertised as a collector’s item for alumni from the class of 1956-81.

This piece of HDCH memorabilia has followed an educational path with Ruth Vander Stelt, MD, class of 1981. Ruth decided it was time to part with it and donated it to our auction.

The journey of the mug began at HDCH (Hamilton, ON). It then travelled to Calvin College (Grand Rapids, MI), King’s College (Edmonton, AB) and Laval University (Quebec City, QC).

Alumna Heidi DeVries, born in 1981, saw the mug in the auction, bid on it and brought it home with her on March 25. Heidi continues her Christian education journey, now as an HD parent, and is excited to continue to chronicle the travels of the HD Travelling Mug. h
