CROATIAN FILM DAYS – the biggest event in the area of the Canton, where the best works of the Croatian cinematography, after the Pula film festival, are being screened, and so it got the name “Little Pula”. It is being held at the beginning of September in the municipality of Orašje. At the film screenings you can see actors, directors, and people from the Croatian and BiH political life, and there is a great media interest for this event. POSAVINA WHEEL DANCE – held in the area of the municipality of Odžak from 01/08 – 16/08. This festival is full of sports and cultural events: books promotion, art exhibitions, and sports tournaments in basketball, volleyball, football and contact sports, kulenijada, concerts and as the final of this event the international folklore festival held on August 15th at the central Odžak’s square. DOMALJEVAC SASH – cultural-folklore-sports festival with the international character, held at the end of July, at the area of the municipality of Domaljevac – Šamac. The organizer HKUD “Mldost” Domaljevac every Lov • year makes a rich program consisted of: traditional ceremonial folklore groups march past, open air performances, traditional and pop music concerts, rafting and pontoon ride down the Sava River, exhibitions, competitions, actors presentations, etc. TOLISA DAYS – a big event that is becoming an international traditional festival. This festival is taking place at the beginning of June in Tolisa, the municipality of Orašje. Besides the central event, the international folklore festival, there are also various competitions in old sports, book promotions, dog races, concerts.
The main goal of this festival and of Posavina dancing and Domaljevac sash is the preservation of cultural heritage and the autochthon folklore creativity. Besides these festivals it is important to mention the international Sava regatta Karlovac – Orašje, which gathers lovers of nature and kayak – the canoe sports, from all over the world, and it is held in July and lasts for 14 days. Motorcyclemeetings in Orašje that gather over 1000 motor cyclists from all over the Europe are taking place at the beginning of May.
HUNTING AND FISHING The geographical position, closeness of the two big rivers, rich and heterogeneous fund of wild game and fish and preserved natural environment make good conditions for breeding the wild game and fish. According to these characteristics, this area is attractive from the point of view of the tourist-hunting and fishing offer.
In the area of the Canton the most represented is the feathered game: pheasant, quail, wild goose and ducks, wood pigeon, snipe and turtle-dove. The rest of the hunting game here are: deer game, wild boar and hare. Posavina Canton enables different kinds of fishing because you can fish at rivers, lakes, marshes, old river beds, canals. Posavina Canton offers very rich ichthyologic diversity. The most represented fish species in these areas are: carp, catfish, pike, pike-perch, amur, and barbel. In order to increase the attractiveness of the hunting and fishing areas, the Tourist board of Posavina Canton has implemented the project “Posavina, hunting and fishing paradise” financed by the European Union, the buildings and grounds for tourists stay at the hunting grounds had been renovated and improved, and the game and fish stocks increased. The system of informing that gives all the necessary information and services for the tourists during their stay in Posavina has been established as a very important part of tourist product.
