The Fall of Man A Prequel to the Chronicles of Gaia

In the vast primordial universe drifted an entity. Out of boredom it had decided to create a world. Out of the void it collected various particles to form a giant sphere of water. Then it threw dust upon the sphere to form the earth. Finally it blew upon the sphere to form the firmament. The entity was pleased with it’s work, and began to explore it’s new world, Gaia. After many millennia the entity began to grow bored once again. So it decided to create companions to entertain itself. The entity decided to give the water, earth, and air physical form and sentience. They were named Nu, Geb, and Astral respectively. Nu was formed without a gender, but has aspects that could be represented as male or female. Geb was formed as a horned god and wherever he walked life sprouted until the whole earth was covered with all manner of vegetation. When Astral was formed, a

bit of her essence split off, forming the sun and the moon. The pain of the separation caused her to shed tears for the first time, forming stars. After the entity observed the formation of the sun and the moon, it decided to give them a child’s physical form and sentience as well. They were named Ra and Khonsu. Whenever Ra was awake, the sky was bright. This was called “day”. Whenever Khonsu was awake, the sky was dark and the stars were visible. This was called “night”. And the entity was very pleased. After watching the young ones, those who had termed themselves gods, the entity longed to walk among them. So it fashioned itself into a masculine and feminine form, twins, calling themselves Amun and Aradia. Nu, Geb, and Astral had been amusing themselves by creating sculptures out of their respective elements. Seeing this Amun breathed life into the sculptures forming the birds of the air, the creatures of the sea, and all the things that moved upon the earth. And all was well. After much time had passed Amun and Aradia noticed that they were not much needed by the five young ones. So they decided to create a race dependent on them. Amun breathed life and sentience into the human race. Aradia gifted them with a small amount of magic, which gave them longevity and the ability to cast any spell. At last the split entity,

affectionately termed the Bright Lords by the gods, was content. Floating upon the sea was a sprawling pearlescent city built by Nu, Geb, and Astral. It was named Atlantis, but it was called Brightling City by the young and awestruck humans. As time went past the humans grew cunning and prideful in their own vainglory. They believed that since they were immortal and could use magic like the gods, that there was no need to bow down and worship them. Some even went so far as to say that the gods should be brought down upon their knees. Rumors and whispers of this rebellion reached the ears of the Bright Lords and gods in Atlantis. In one of the gardens, Aradia lounges on a divan before a clear pond with koi swimming lazily about. “The young ones are talking about the antics of our new pets.” Aradia turns her head behind her toward the source of the voice to see Amun walking up to her. “Ah, brother well met,” she says smiling. “Well met sister,” Amun replies fondly. “Do you not think, sister dear, that we should discipline our pets?” he inquires. “After all it would not do for them to think that they are our equals.” “Ah, surely you jest! They are only children after

all, and they tend to be a precocious lot,” she says shocked. “Ah love, you always did have a sweet and soft heart,” he chuckles. Then he lifts his hand and caresses her cheek, while she smiles shyly up at him. “Very well, I will leave them be,” he sighs. Then he bends down and places a kiss upon her soft receptive lips. “Hmm, if you are truly distraught then shall I go among them and see the truth of the matter?” She whispers softly when he moves to kiss a trail along her long graceful neck. “In the morn,” he murmurs against the sweet spot between her shoulder and neck. In the morning, Amun wakes up to a light kiss upon his lips. He opens his eyes to see his sister smiling mischievously. “Good morn.” “Good morn,” he replies with a smile. Amun sits up and watches his beloved get dressed in quick but graceful movements. “Enjoy yourself, my dear,” he says from the bed. She stops at the doorway to the hall before turning toward him. “I always do,” she smiles. As a few days passed, he was sitting in the library among the young ones, when he felt it. It was an excruciating ripping sensation from deep within the

core of his being. He sent his mind searching within his body to divine the cause, to find that the presence of his sister, whom he had always felt since they came into being, was gone. At first he was paralyzed with shock, and then he unleashed a scream of anguish. This caused the seas to grow turbulent, the land to shake and to shudder, and the sky to grow overcast and rain down giant hailstones upon the land and sea. Ignoring the startled looks and questions from the young ones, he sent his mind out into the world to find the thing that would dare take his beloved away from him. To his shock he found that it was a group of humans, his own creation, which had betrayed him. Unfortunately his despair, shock and anger proved to be so overwhelming for the traitors that they were killed instantly when his mind touched theirs. However their death did not satisfy him. And so he placed a geis upon all of mankind that they shall be forevermore servile to the races that shall come. After this he moved Atlantis and all of the gods to a separate realm above Gaia named Caelum. Then he secluded himself in the innermost chamber and went into sleep and was not heard from since then.
