The Spring term saw the return of our annual Festival week and this year it was the ‘Festival of Curiosity’. It was an amazing week of festival events and activities with incredible cakes, baffling escape rooms, giant puzzles, mind-boggling questions, fiendishly complicated crime scene investigations, fantastic talks from visitors, to name but a few, and a general air around the School of endeavour and, of course, curiosity.

Bringing the wider Hazlegrove community up to date with recent events... Spring 2023

The boarding community have had a lot of fun this term including trips to Splashdown in Poole, Airhop and Ninja Warrior in Bristol. The traditional Easter Feast was held where the children showed off amazing bonnets as well as the exciting Burn’s Night Supper.

Year 6s Performance of Roald Dahl’s Matilda The

Musical JR was one to remember with outstanding enthusiasm and energy from every child.

A selection of concerts have been enjoyed this term including the Friday Concerts, Boarders’ Concerts and Festival Concerts.

The Lower School delighted us with Hoodwinked! Their sensational singing could be heard across the grounds and no doubt many of the heart-warming catchy tunes will be ear worms for quite some time!

The Speech and Drama evening impressed us all. The children had the chance to perform their recent LAMDA examination pieces to their families.

World Book Day 2023! It was lovely to see all the incredibly creative costumes from our staff and pupils celebrating books and the joy that they bring us!

Our U13 boys finished an incredible 2nd in the National IAPS Hockey Finals having won their Regional final earlier this term.

Our U11, U12, U13 Hockey teams have qualified for the National IAPS Finals this term – a phenomenal achievement.

Our U12 Netball team finished 3rd in the Plate Competition at their National IAPS Finals in Ipswich.

Arthur F represented Somerset at the English School Cross Country Finals in Nottingham, with a total of seven HZG athletes representing Somerset at the South West Championships at Blaise Castle.

Our Girls’ Indoor Cricket Team won the Somerset County Lady Taverners’, they are looking forward to the South West Finals next term.

HZG won the Grass Roots Regional Show Jumping Finals at Moreton.

12 HZG children competed in the Laser Run competition

28 HZG athletes from Years 3 - 8 competed in the National Schools Biathlon Finals

Huge cross country success this term. Our Year 7 girls’ team won the Somerset County team title.

Our U13 Netball team won the Bowl Competition at their Regional IAPS Qualifier.
