how we met

AS TOLD BY THE BRIDE I had never really considered myself a really romantic person necessarily. I have always been so driven in school and focused on my career for so many years. I grew up in Kansas and moved out to New Mexico when I was only 16 years old. I got my undergranduate from The University of New Mexico and had the desire to persue law and become a lawyer. Ever since I say in all of my mother’s court hearings and trials I have always wanted to become a lawyer. I heard from a friend that Phoenix had a very thriving legal community and so I skipped graduation ceremonies and took the first bus out to Phoenix, Arizona. I found the first job I could find in law, working in the mailroom of a thriving law firm, Hamlin Hamlin McGill. I started school at nights, and was so busy studying and working, hardley sleeping at all. However, that seemed to be what I did my entire life anyway. One morning, while working in the mailroom a senior partner at the firm, Richard McGill called me to his office. I was so nervous walking up to his office. I opened up the door and there were two people in his office. Richard McGill introduced the other man as Ian McGill, his brother. He told me he would be working with me in the mail room and that I should train him. I was very nervous and intimidated, wanting to get a spot as an associate in the firm after I passed the BAR. I greeted him very nervoiusly, and we walked back the room. I was very intimiated by him, being related to one of the most well-known lawyers in the Phoenix area. However, that quickly subsited when he instantly cracked a joke. I thought it was so fun, a nice break from my busy and professional life. We eventually became good friends and we slowly fell in love. He is in every way my opposite. I am so serious and he so loose and fun. But that is really how we ended up together. It was a break from the hard life of stone-faced lawyers. That is how I met Ian McGill.
