Designing Architecture at large within the context of an existing urban setting, especially one that has existed for over a century, has challenges in both sociological and economic aspects. In order to build within the confines of a geographic feature such as a river and an existing urban setting, in this case the Kansas city River Market, a study of the existing city and social dynamics of the river market area was essential. After understanding the contextual significance of the site, and the social necessities of the surrounding neighborhood, I proposed the beginning of a development that would both lend to the existing requisites of the local artist community currently present, as well as create a nest for artists from around the world to come visit, share ideas, and further cultivate the creative Hub of Kansas City in its very birthplace.

The Building Shell, thats inspired by the Natural Flow of Topography at the River Front, encapsulates New building development projected from the existing City Grid while attempting to utilize the natural slope of the site as well.
