A Word from the CEO

“Are you guys ever gonna finish that clinic?”

The answer is yes, we are. The final phase of Haxtun Health’s Main Street Clinic has begun. It’s been exciting to watch the progression of interior walls going up as we can now see what once was just a vision finally becoming a reality. Getting to this point has required patience from our community, Haxtun Health staff, and the Governing Board We are grateful to the community for their patience as we secured funds for the project. Recently receiving final confirmation of funding, the Board approved and signed a contract with SKARCO Construction to complete the build-out for the new clinic. The goal has been, and still is, to build a brand new 10,000-squarefoot clinic on Main Street without asking the district taxpayers to incur long-term debt, and we are on track to do that . The building will be home to our Retail Pharmacy, Out-Patient Physical Therapy, and the Haxtun Health Clinic . With construction underway, we hope to have the project completed in 9-12 months

“What took so long?”

We could have finished the clinic by now if we were willing to take on long-term debt, but we did not believe that was the right thing to do if there were funds available to complete the clinic that did not have to be paid back. We have been awarded a DOLA (Department of Local Affairs) grant, a CDS (Congressionally Directed Spending) grant, and other grants and supplemental funds, allowing us to build the new clinic without long-term debt . Plain and simple, that is why we have been waiting Right and Right Now are not always the same thing; we are committed to doing what is Right. Many thanks to the Board and Administrative Team for the extra effort, long hours, multiple requests for funds, and faith to accomplish a miracle.
