What is the most popular treatment at your spa & what makes this treatment outstanding?
The celebration for Two is the most popular treatment at our Sofitel SPA. It is a couple treatment whereby the couples receive a glass of champagne and can relish together with a duo-massage. It enhances a luxury feeling and guests feel really pampered. We have lots of couples who want to celebrate together, an anniversary for example, and the Celebration for Two is then the perfect treatment.
Which measures did you take to ensure customers feel confident to return to the spa during the challenging times brough about by covid pandemic?
The safety of our guests remains our greatest priority at Sofitel SPA. Since last week, our Sofitel SPA has opened its doors again for guests to come and enjoy indulging treatments, get sportive in the gym or to take a relaxing dip in the pool. Reservations for the Sofitel SPA and FITNESS are mandatory, in this way we can regulate the number of guests in our areas. Furthermore, we provide a disposable towel before we start the treatment, and we always use facemasks and of course wash our hands frequently and before every treatment. All areas are cleaned regularly with disinfecting cleaning supplies.
Do you run promotional activities from time to time to keep your customers excited about your offering and to encourage them to return soon?
We run promotional activities frequently to make sure that our guests know about out offerings and get excited to return. To illustrate, we send out newsletters every month, highlighting our recent offerings including our Sofitel SPA offerings. Besides, we are continuously busy with creating organic and paid advertisement content, not only about our offerings but also about our CSR actions for example. Besides, we created various new packages and options during COVID-19 to attract local guests for example we created several Staycation packages. Besides the Sofitel SPA offerings, we have created take-away options such as The Grand Picnic Box by Bridges. Also, we have opened The Grand Beach in May which will definitely get our guests excited to return to Sofitel Legend The Grand in general.


How do you as a manager keep your employees motivated to ensure award winning service is always delivered?
By involving them in what goes on at the Sofitel SPA. Letting them bring ideas to the table and sharing the success with them. It is a true team effort!
What do you think sets your spa apart from others in your area?
We have a lot of returning guest because we provide high quality treatments and deliver a total experience with a personal approach. We get lots of comments that the massages are outstanding. We have created exclusive packages which combines treatments with champagne and a surprise gift box for example, to make it a more luxury experience. At Sofitel Spa, we meet the refinement and skills of the latest trends in French cosmetology to create an exhilarating, uplifting and rejuvenating spa experience. We use only the best quality products from Cinq Mondes, a natural brand which offers a suitable solution for all skin types and the specific needs to stimulate and rebalance the skin’s cellular metabolism thanks to 10 super oils and 11 patented super plants.
Which facilities can guests use at the spa after a treatment to relax and unwind? What unique selling point do you have to attract new clients that might be interesting to the readers?
The Grand Beach. Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam transformed the historic courtyard into a real sandy beach of over 380m2, including outdoor bar, Big Green Egg barbeques, various comfortable seating areas and cabanas. Guests of Sofitel SPA can combine a treatment with some drinks and Caribbean bites at The Grand Beach. With this city beach initiative, The Grand once again brings this beachy holiday feeling to the heart of Amsterdam. After the great success of last year’s edition which inspired by the French Côte d’Azur, The Grand decided to let The Grand Beach return in 2021 with a new culinary theme. The dishes on the menus are inspired by the Caribbean cuisine – known for its barbeque dishes and fresh fish in combination with spicy marinades and chutneys – and includes dishes such as sea bass, grilled octopus and fresh salads with king prawns and tropical fruits like mango. In addition, the classic delicacies such as oysters can also be found on the menu. The bar serves tropical cocktails with mostly rum as a base, think about Frozen Pina Colada, Classic or Strawberry Mojito and Dark ‘n Stormy. Throughout the summer, various special events will be organised such as PiperHeidsieck Cinema Nights, Brugal BBQ Sundays and Lobster Nights.
The pool and sauna can be used after a treatment to relax and unwind.
