Security and Safety Ensure all the knobs for the oven and cooktop are off before cleaning your stove. Before cleaning, ensure the inside of the oven and all burners are completely cooled. To keep your kitchen well-ventilated while cleaning, it’s a good idea to open a window or turn on

an exhaust fan. If you are unsure how to take good care of your appliances, trust LG Appliance Service for reliable LG range and oven repair. Spend a few minutes preparing your natural gas stove for safety and energy efficiency.

Learn these gas stove cleaning hacks for the holidays: Hack #1: Vinegar-baking soda paste Remove burner caps and grates, then pile them in a large sink. Use a non-abrasive sponge and the first wash of liquid dish detergent slightly diluted to remove the greasy film. Drain the sink’s water. Then, combine one part vinegar, two parts baking soda, and a few drops of dish soap to make a paste. Apply the paste to the grates and caps.

Hack #2: Paper clip or safety pin to clear ports Use the pointed end of a paper clip or safety pin to scrape off food fragments that could obstruct gas flow from ignition ports after wiping down heads with a damp (not wet) cloth to remove food debris. With the damp cloth, remove the released particles. To remove Grease and stains, follow up with a gentle vinegar scrub.

Hack #3: Ammonia soak In addition to 14 cups of household ammonia, remove the grates and burner caps and put them each in a separate, sealable plastic bag (or covered plastic dish). Seal them and leave them overnight. Grease ought to easily come off the pieces in the morning after being washed with a sponge dipped in soap.

Hack #4: Vinegar-baking soda paste Make a fresh batch of the vinegar-baking soda paste as described above to clean up messes that have been cooked on. Any dirty areas should be covered with it and sit there for 15 minutes. Then use a sponge dampened with soap to gently scrub away the

gunk. Before replacing the grates and covers for the dry burners, dry the surface with a clean cloth.

Hack #5: Vacuum crumbs If you have a vacuum, quickly suck up any food particles or loose crumbs on the cooktop surface using it.

Hack #6: Hot towel mask A dish towel should be wet and wrung out. Warm up the wet towel in the microwave for 30 seconds. When removing the steaming towel from the oven, be careful. Any areas with cooked-on food should be covered with a hot towel. Cooked-on food should be loosened and easily scrubbed away once the towel has cooled.

Hack #7: Don’t use the self-cleaning feature Even though your oven may have a self-cleaning cycle, it is not advisable to use it right before the holidays. Why? Self-cleaning ovens use high heat to clean, which produces a lot of smoke and odor that visitors would find offensive. It’s not ideal when you have a turkey to roast and no time to call a repairman when your oven malfunctions due to the self-cleaning feature. Use one of the below holiday-friendly cleaning tips in its place. It would help if you waited to run your self-cleaning cycle until after the holiday guests had left.

Hack #8: Steam bath To clean or vacuum up any loose debris, remove the racks. Replace the bottom rack and set a sizable metal baking dish filled with vinegar and water in a 1:1 ratio. To allow the water to bubble and steam, preheat the oven to 450 degrees and leave it there for 20 minutes to an hour.

Be careful not to burn yourself as you carefully spray the water/vinegar solution on the interior surfaces of the oven after turning it off. Shut the door and give it at least 30 minutes to stand.

Hack #9: Baking soda mask Take the oven racks out. To make a thick paste, combine 1 cup of baking soda with 1 cup of water. Cover the interior of the oven with the mixture. Give the mixture 12 hours to rest. Apply vinegar with a sprayer to the oven’s interior.
