Ear reshaping surgery (Otoplasty) can be performed to set back protruding ears or to reduce the size of large ears. The procedure involves removing skin and reshaping cartilage from behind the ears. The ears are then stitched into the new position with the incision marks concealed in the crease behind the ear, leaving no signs of surgery.
Time taken: Dependant on the procedure but this is done under general anaesthetic and the operation can last up to three hours. What Results Can You Expect? Large ears are reduced in size and protruding ears are set back with immediate results which are permanent. Side effects and after-care: After consultation with our surgeon, you will be given careful, thorough and specific instructions to help the healing and asked back for a follow-up appointment to check on your progress. It will be necessary to wear bandages around the ears for about a week to allow healing. Once the bandages and stitches are removed the results are immediately visible.
