Federal Furniture, A Pioneer in Furniture Expertise Second generation furniture business owner, Dato’ Choy Wai Hin says the success of Federal Furniture Holdings (M) Sdn Bhd rides on its vast experience of high-end interior fit-out.

n my family this uncanny skill both with our hands and our minds run through our veins,” says Choy Wai Hin, Managing Director of Malaysia’s premier luxury fit-out specialists Federal Furniture Holdings (M) Sdn Bhd. A civil engineer by profession, Dato’ Choy Wai Hin was born into a family of carpenters “My father, Dato’ Dr Choy Fook On, was one of the pioneers of Malaysia’s furniture Industry.” Federal Furniture’s journey began when Dr Choy crafted chairs and desks by hand and delivered them personally to clients around Jinjang in Selangor. He then turned his burgeoning company into a partnership and admirably the company is the first furniture manufacturing firm to list on the Malaysian Bourse in 1990. “My father had big dreams for his business and he passed down most of his business acumen and savviness to his three children,” says Choy. Continuing on the legacy, Choy says that his father’s passion and dedication towards the business still resonates with the family, “Today, my siblings and I are all in some way connected to the family business.” Federal Furniture Holdings occupies leading positions in the various segments of the Malaysian furniture industry through its three main operating divisions of interior

Choy explains that during his father’s time, he had leveraged on the industrialisation of the country when hotels started sprouting during the 80s. “In the 80s, the company grew substantially. It would have been difficult to find a hotel that didn’t seek out our expertise.
