T’ai Chi Chih
Pilates with Weights
T’ai Chi Chih is a form of 19 movements and one pose applying the principles of circularity, continuity, and focused attention. Practitioners report improvement with balance, reduced high blood pressure, and alleviating some symptoms of arthritis from this evidence-based practice. In a number of studies between 2003 and 2011, various uCLA researchers have found that doing T’ai Chi Chih improves immune system function, helps relieve depression, and improves the quality of sleep. The practice is both relaxing and invigorating, creating a sense of wellbeing physically and emotionally.
Class will begin with a warm up of weights segment and incorporating Pilates breath and control into the workout. The second half of the class will be mat Pilates exercises focusing on your body’s core, strengthen your lower back and improving your posture. This class is for students that have participated in Pilates before, and will be taught at an intermediate/ advanced level. This is an excellent class for those looking to challenge themselves, as well as to further their strength and knowledge of Pilates. you will get an excellent workout while strengthening your core, as well as increasing your flexibility. Please bring 38 lb hand weights, a yoga mat and water.

yogalates is a class that is a unique blend of yoga and Pilates in one hour! It incorporates the mind body connection and stretching exercises/ poses you achieve with yoga, but adds an excellent segment of purely based core exercises through Pilates practice. This is a class for individuals that want to strengthen their core and improve overall body tone, while also achieving a mind body connection and sense of inner calm. The class is designed for both beginning and intermediate students. The instructor will teach at a intermediate level and shoe modifications. This is an excellent class for those looking to strengthen their abs and glutes as well as achieve an overall stronger core. Please bring a yoga mat, exercise ball (55,65 or 78cm) and water.
