Mientras dibujaba, tratando de cristalizar la observación en un croquis, me sorprendía al entender que cada dibujo era un registro simultáneo, una fotografía “literalizada”, una obra cuyo trazado de tiempo y posición es único a través de la ruta de tres ciudades icónicas que tienen mucho que decir.

En palabras simples, la síntesis de la observación arquitectónica es el enfoque de esta colección de tres libros. En ella, procuro trazar ciertos croquis con mayor detalle figurativo para destacar ciertos elementos arquitectónicos, mientras que en otros el trazo se vuelve más abstracto, jugando con la presión del lápiz y el “achure” para definir espacios urbanos con mayor magnitud.

Con una mochila con pocas cosas, zapatillas y una croquera inicié este apasionante viaje por Santiago, Talca y Temuco para dar vida a tres libros; un concierto de tres tiempos que rescata la belleza de urbes en movimiento donde se encuentran emplazados los edificios de la Universidad Autónoma de Chile. While I was drawing, trying to crystallize the observation into a sketch, I was surprised to understand that each drawing was a simultaneous record, a “literalized” photograph, a work whose time and position path is unique through the route of three iconic cities that have much to say.

In simple words, the synthesis of architectural observation is the focus of this three-book collection. In it, I try to draw certain sketches with greater figurative detail to highlight certain architectural elements, while in others the line becomes more abstract, playing with the pressure of the pencil and the “hatching” to define urban spaces with greater magnitude.

With a backpack with few things, sneakers and a sketchbook I started this exciting journey through Santiago, Talca and Temuco to give life to three books; a three-step concert that rescues the beauty of moving cities where the buildings of the Universidad Autónoma de Chile are located. fasciné con sus esquinas, el sonido de sus calles, las líneas de sus históricas avenidas, como formas detenidas en el tiempo, como imágenes de daguerrotipo a través de exquisitas escenas; actos, lugares y espacios únicos, donde ser espectador se transforma en un arte.

A través del trazo sincero, los dibujos que presento buscan no solo rescatar el patrimonio material, sino el alma albergada en cada esquina de estas ciudades de Chile, pasajes tímidos, intersecciones soberbias, rincones cerrados, otros abiertos y escandalosos, hilados por una vorágine que no cesa y la belleza de estas históricas urbes en expansión.

Así voy caminando, recreando, soñando, pensado en un pasado que se disuelve en ciertas formas y en otro que se construye con la naturalidad de la dinámica urbana. En ese tránsito, visito edificios y viejas casas, donde la antigüedad y la modernidad se confrontan, se mixturan, se sintetizan y vuelven a expandirse. Ahí me pierdo en el exquisito caos de la Feria Pinto de Temuco, el iluminado cementerio de Talca en año nuevo, la modernidad líquida de la transitoriedad del metro o la elegancia clásica de los edificios del Gran Santiago.

Quiero invitarles a viajar por estas ciudades con el mismo desenfado que yo lo hice. Hay que hacerlo liviano, con pocos pensamientos y escaso equipaje. En resumen, una colección sintética que sirve como hoja de ruta para recorrer Chile siguiendo el trazado de un lápiz.

Finalmente, agradezco a la Universidad Autónoma de Chile por dejarme dibujar. Dibujar en estos tiempos es un acto romántico, dibujar Chile, un privilegio.

by its corners, the sound of its streets, the lines of its historic avenues, like forms stopped in time, as images of daguerreotypes through exquisite scenes; acts, places and unique spaces, where being a spectator becomes an art.

Through the sincere stroke, the drawings that I present seek not only to rescue the material heritage, but the soul housed in every corner of these Chilean cities, timid passages, superb intersections, closed corners, others open and scandalous, spun by a never-ending vortex and the beauty of these historic expanding cities.

Thus I walk, recreating, dreaming, thinking about a past that dissolves into certain forms and another that is built with the naturalness of urban dynamics. In that transit, I visit buildings and old houses, where antiquity and modernity confront each other, mix, synthesize and expand again. There I get lost in the exquisite chaos of the Pinto Fair in Temuco, the illuminated cemetery of Talca in the New Year, the liquid modernity of the transitory nature of the subway or the classic elegance of the buildings of Great Santiago.

I would like to invite you to travel through these cities with the same abandon that I did. It must be done lightly, with few thoughts and little baggage. In short, a synthetic collection that serves as a road map to travel around Chile following the outline of a pencil.

Finally, I thank the Universidad Autónoma de Chile for letting me draw. Drawing in these times is a romantic act, drawing Chile, a privilege.
