I RECENTLY BECAME METHOD I asked participants to complete the sentence: “I recently became _________.” I then asked them the question: “When did you start identifying as a __________?”
OBSERVATIONS This prompt allowed participants to pinpoint specific moments of change, along with rich contextual understanding that was easier for participants to share. This line of questioning became a springboard into my ethnographic research.
