Hannah Jane Brown

Hannah is a Master of Landscape Architecture Candidate at the University of Virginia (May 2022). Her work strives to realize more just and joyful futures for marginalized sites, histories, and communities. Her thesis research focused on the Shockoe Hill African Burial Ground in Richmond, Virginia, working with activists and scholars to contribute to the interpretation of the site and developing design proposals for memory keeping. Hannah’s work has explored public space design, emerging industrial landscapes in Appalachia, and plant-centric designs that engage maintenance practices in working and post-industrial landscapes. Hannah holds a BS in Sustainable Engineering Design from Stanford University.
