MARCH

A Chestnut-backed Chickadee in Harlan Oregon. These birds are closely related to the black-capped chickadee and look quite similar but for their chestnut back and side coloring. In California, only their backs have the chestnut coloring.

A fledgling male American Kestrel Corvallis Oregon, This was one of three birds that I was lucky enough to see fledge before all three drowned in a water trough when they couldn始t get out. The owner is going to drown-proof the tank so we hope to see another family next year.
