RCR ARCHITECTS Research

RCR Architects is a Spanish architectural firm comprised of Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem, and Ramon Vilalta. The firm’s goal is to showcase Catalan architecture and their designs reflect a passion for common spaces with structured and precise layouts. The firm aims to transform each public building into a community hub that goes beyond its primary function.

RCR Architects is known for their serious, intense, and clear expressions in design and the use of climate control features such as porches, blinds, and arched windows. These elements contribute to the firm’s distinct style. The firm adheres to the principle of “less is more” when it comes to architectural elements, using few and natural materials, including raw rusted Corten steel, to create a minimalist yet functional design.

The firm primarily focuses on residential and Catalan cultural buildings, with a commitment to creating spaces that serve not just their intended purpose but also as community centers.

Muraba Residence Louvers

The utilization of louvers in the Muraba Residence is crucial. The integration of outdoor and indoor spaces creates a seamless transition that incorporates the surrounding natural environment into the architectural design of the building.
