Art is for humanity. Growing up with a strong interest in visual arts and experimenting with various of media, my journey has started from an individual point of view of a lonely artist into a more generous and altruistic approach to people and their lives. In my opinion, art is the therapy for myself and everybody.

Considering human-centric is my life’s philosophy. Purely attracted by people around me, especially their expression & identity, I draw and paint realism portraits to demonstrate my feeling and emotion for them. Commissioned by their family, my painting is a surprised birthday gift for the one that I painted. Lovingly hand-crafted and lasts as a memory.

Abstract Expressionism I believe that emotions and feelings could only be illustrated in their most liberal form through abstract expressionism painting. It is an art simply created by the artist for their own sake. Personal experience deserves a great topic for every artist who is on their journey of discovering their inner world. Intimate, unique and empowering.

Impressionism Landscape Fascinated by Vietnamese scenery, I choose watercolor and acrylics to capture the light of beautiful yet simple landscape of daily life in my homeland. As a sweet escape of my bustle and hustle urban life, landscape is my favourite topic to experience on small size canvas, my open travelling window for young freedom and wandering minds.

Design is an expression. It is a fruitful outcome that expressed the beauty of a creative concept and a thoughtful research. I truly enjoy and value the importance of research & development to gain insights that play a vital role in the design process. What a pleasure of being a designer to understand humanity and society, in order to create products which benefit and enhance life quality, both aesthetically and functionally.

"Urban Zen" is my graduate collection for Spring/Summer 2013 at University of Architecture of Ho Chi Minh City. Based on the idea of Flexibility in Feng Shui Philosophy could liberate people from social restriction and stereotype, offer a new freedom in lifestyle, from living to clothing. Target customers are women who practice Zen lifestyle, mindfulness and meditation, age group from 30 to 45. Using both natural and synthetic materials like silk, organza, shan-tung to knit, rayon and visco, with calm and muted color schemes is a challenge to maintain the balance of different feelings of textures, all the accessories and shoes are hand-made. Garment construction is minimal, free size, as comfortable and simple as the cloth wrap around the body, inspired by the Asia monk clothes. Styling gets reference from Kwan Yin ’s image - the female Buddha of Asian countries. As an attemp of preserving local heritage in the age of globalization, I created my collection to embrace my love and concern for my Viet Nam's culture and people.

The project explored the possibility of multi-functional clothing, through draping, wraping techniques and creative placements of twisted, holes, bow, tie that are applied on daily garments. This is also my first step of researching of zero-waste cutting techniques, with the last look in the collection, a 4-meters long train which has the shape of half a circle, turning into an elegant and contemporary dress, giving space for statement necklace made by natural stones.

Kwan-yin Inspiration Kwan Yin is a female Buddha in Asian countries that practice Buddhism and one of the most popular deities used in Feng Shui. She is the symbol of mercy and compassion. Swathed in white, standing atop a lotus pedestal, a willow branch in one hand, a vase of pure water in the other. I chose the natural lay-out for make-up with a glow finish on model skin. Hair style is the careful top knot and wearing organic accessories from copper, crystal, wood and natural stones. Straw wedges and paper clutch complete the look. W W W. H A N A D U V E N T. C O M

Flexibility Creates Posibility Strategically planned 4 holes on the 4-metres long train of the last look, only using 2 coppers bracelets to secure the fabric, I created various looks on this outfit. This experiment gave me the basic of geometrical clothing pattern and sparked an interest in the concept of sustainability. Buy less, invent more. One garment, many looks.

INNOVATIVE PATTERN CUTTING As a young Vietnamese designer, I always desire to develop my career by embracing the Vietnamese heritage and history through costume and fashion - the strongest expression and first impression of any human-being.
Ao-dai is a traditional dress of Vietnam was originally applied to the outfit worn
at the court of the Nguyen Dynasty at Hue in the 18th century. This outfit evolved into the áo ngũ thân, a five-paneled aristocratic gown worn in the 19th and early 20th centuries. With the evolution of fashion, Ao-dai today has two panels, made by various type of fabric and it is for everybody who wants to embracing the Vietnam heritage on special occasions and also as daily-wear. For this project, I would like to practice gender-switching by placing the white ao-dai on menswear, as a new concept. Starting with the deconstruction of the original patterns of the dress and its pants, into a zero-waste pattern. Later on, the deconstruction of the material is futuristic PU leather with the same method of cutting a decoration garland for wedding in Viet Nam. It gives the flat piece of material a new dimension, structure and an endless possibilities of placements on the outfit design. W W W. H A N A D U V E N T. C O M

MODERN SURFACE DESIGN Impressed by two photographs of modern Vietnamese women at the arts exhibition “La sourire de la mutation” (The Smile of Mutation) featuring French, Belgian and Vietnamese artists on January 2018, I created a large scale computer-based painting that combined those most popular patterns are used for UV-protective mask and headwear for women in Viet Nam: polka dot, tiny floral with red, blue and violet. Women cover their identities to commute for work, study and family businesses during the day time. It is a metaphor of the hard pressure of the society on every woman, demands them to take multiroles without supports, protections and recognitions. In order to match that expectation, the women have to put herself to one side, gear up, become anonymous in their lives. It is a kind of mutation. Moreover, garland cutting pattern are executived by a laser cutter and using as the top layer is a liberal act of expression. W W W. H A N A D U V E N T. C O M
