CLUB HISTORY AFC STONEHAM SPITFIRES
AFC Stoneham was formed in 1919 and we will have 113 teams for season 2023/24 ranging from our minnows team to our first team who will compete in the Wessex Premier League. We also run our own Player Development Centre, FA Wildcats Centre for girls and a Saturday Morning Fun Club for children aged 4-10 along with various community projects under our new AFC Stoneham in the Community banner.
We offer a structured player pathway into both our male and female senior teams whilst also offering football to all ages and abilities with a big focus and commitment to our ever-growing youth structure where we have grown the number of female teams from 2 to 25 in four years.
We believe that the game is a vehicle to teach our young players both life lessons and disciplines through team sport which hopefully they will utilise throughout their lives as they progress and develop.
The club has a rich history including recently winning and retaining the Southampton Senior Cup in 2012 and 2013 whilst winning the Hampshire League Cup final in 2015 prior to being promoted to the Sydenhams Wessex League. The club finished 8th during our first two seasons in the Wessex League and 5th during the 17/18 season.

MANAGER’S WORD
AFC STONEHAM SPITFIRES
Jon Gibbens Team Manager
Andy Bushell Assistant Team Manager
I started with the Spitfires when some of the players still with us were just 6 years of age. Each week, month and year I’ve been proud of their development as individuals and a team.
Over the years the team has grown and it’s always a pleasure working with such good players who have huge respect for one another and their football. The team has been rewarded during the past 18 months with some fantastic achievements, but more importantly, memories that will last forever.
As a manger, you always dedicate your time to running the team, but along with a great assistant (and number 4), parents and players’ it’s been nothing but smooth.
It’s the boys’ time to enjoy the occasion and be proud to wear the purple shirt and enjoy a good match with Ringwood.
CAPTAIN’S WORD
AFC STONEHAM SPITFIRES
James S Team Captain
In 2021 my journey at Stoneham started. During my time at Stoneham we have grown as a team and individuals and achieved great uccess together. I have been captain for two easons and have enjoyed every minute. Last eason we were very successful, winning three rophies. The first of which was the ESF Butlins Bognor Regis Cup, this showed how far we have come as a team, as the year before we had not made it past the group stage, winning this trophy meant we played in the national finals at St Georges Park. We played ome brilliant football at St Georges Park beating teams from across the country to become national champions. Lastly, we won he Tyro Cup, beating a very strong Hamble in he final. We have also won the league this eason going unbeaten.
We couldn’t have achieved all of this without our amazing coaches Jon and Andy who not only teach us to move the ball quickly in possession but work hard for each other out of possession. The best thing about Stoneham is that not only do we work well together as a team on the pitch, we are all best of friends off the pitch too.
CLUB HISTORY
RINGWOOD TOWN ROCKETS
Few football clubs in Hampshire can boast that they are over 140 years old, but an ancient copy of the old Ringwood Almanac reveal that Ringwood Town Football Club was formed in 1879.
The club is first mentioned in county records in 1886 when it used the title of Ringwood Hornets. The team was disbanded during the 19141918 war and was re-established in 1918 as Ringwood Comrades, consisting mainly of servicemen returning from the battlefields.
The club played at Carvers Playing Fields during the 1950s and 1960s but an ambitious club committee, encouraged by Ringwood Town Council, laid the foundations for the club to move to the present Long Lane ground.
Successive committees have continued to improve the facilities at the ground such that the club was able to join the Wessex League in 2004. Ringwood Town FC have won the Bournemouth Senior Cup on 4 occasions and runner-up on a further four. In 1980 the club recorded its most memorable achievement when Southern League opponents were defeated to win the Russell Cotes Cup.
Since then the club was promoted to Hampshire League Division One only to be relegated the following season. The club has had notable success in the Bournemouth Leagues and in the Bournemouth F.A. Page Croft Cup. During 2003-04 season the 1st team reached the final of the Hampshire League Floodlit Cup whilst the reserve team won the Hampshire League Combination 2 Division. In 2005-06 the 1st team finished 9th, with the reserve team 5th in their respective divisions.
The re-formed Sunday team won Bournemouth F.A. Division 3 with an unbeaten league record and a new League record, conceding only 9 goals in 22 matches. This improvement was not maintained in 200607, with the club finishing next to bottom of the Wessex League Premier Division. Wessex League Division 1 has been our mainstay since.

Steve and I have been coaching the Rockets since U6s and it’s been an absolute pleasure to see how they have developed as individuals and as a team.
We are delighted to have made it to the Hampshire U12 final after some great matches with very strong opponents. We are relishing the opportunity to play Jon and his Stoneham team, who we know are a fantastic side, in such an exciting match.
The lads deserve massive credit for their collective determination and skill in reaching the final. Their progression to the final, along with a very strong league performance, is testament to both their individual skill and unity as a team of which our parents and coaches are very proud.
The Ringwood Town Rockets will enjoy the occasion, regardless of the outcome, and wish everyone involved on the day the very best of luck!

Getting back to the Hampshire cup final to have the chance to retain the tittle is an amazing achievement. Especially considering some of the tough games that we have come through against other area county cup winners in previous rounds.

CLUB HISTORY CLANFIELD YOUTH
Clanfield FC was formed in 1983 with the merging of Clanfield Seniors and Clanfield Boys Club to establish a single club for the area.
In our relatively short history we have built up a strong infrastructure both on and off the pitch and this has enabled us to run teams ranging from boys and girls youth teams up to senior level.
Clanfield FC's home ground has been Peel Park since the club was formed with changes over the years to accommodate the league standards required to play at Hampshire level. Unfortunately, the restrictions at Peel Park mean that progression beyond the Hampshire Premier League required the 1st team to seek an alternative home to play at. In 2019 we agreed a groundshare arrangement with Havant & Waterlooville FC and started putting together plans to secure promotion into the Wessex League.
CLUB HISTORY CLANFIELD YOUTH
As a club, our most successful period to date was in the 90's winning the Portsmouth & District League at all levels then joining the Hampshire League in 1997. The club's biggest achievement came in the 1998/99 season with the club winning the Hampshire League Division 3 title and the Hampshire Intermediate Cup completing the double and making history for the club The club briefly joined the Wessex League in early 2000's until the reformed Hampshire Premier League was introduced for season 2007/08 and that is where the club stayed until we finished 2nd in the 2022/23 season, securing our promotion to the Wessex League Division 1.
Our youth structure has a pathway through from our Colts sessions through to U18s, incorporating 23 youth teams playing in the Portsmouth Youth League, Mid Solent League and Hampshire Girls League. Our U23s and Reserves teams play in the Hampshire Combination and Development League while in 2022/23 we had our first Women’s team enter the County Women’s league. Our successful Weetabix Wildcats programme has helped create a thriving girls football section, with nearly half our youth members being female, with a number playing for both girls and mixed football teams.

CLANFIELD YOUTH
Scott and I are really proud of how this team has developed throughout the seasons, which has culminated in this County Cup Final. We have been going since the very start, training them since they were 5 years old.
Many of them have grown up together in the team and that bond has really shown this season to leave us competing for the PYFL A League as well as Semi Finalists of the PYFL Cup.
We have had to get to this final the hard way, beating other league leaders in Millbrook, Highcliffe and Basing Royals to get here and really looking forward to a great final and that they come out deserving winners.
CAPTAIN’S WORD
CLANFIELD YOUTH
Oliver G Team Vice-Captain
I have been with Clanfield Football Club since I was 4 yrs old, as well as our centre back Ashton, then Alfie and Lewie joined not long after. We have had our ups and downs and have battled relegation previously, but we have continued to work hard which has then attracted other players to join our team.
Clanfield has always been classed as a village team and never been seen as a ‘bigger team’ like other teams in the league. Now we have shown how good a team we are. With continued hard work, passion, determination and loyalty, Shay and I believe we have what it takes to lift the cup today.
We all feel really proud to play for Clanfield and hopefully we’ll do Clanfield proud to lift the trophy at the end of the game!

MANAGER’S WORD
DENMEAD LIONS
Mark Gissing Team Manager
It has been a pleasure to manage this team for the past 7 years and we have been fortunate enough to enjoy many great memories during this time.
To be able to represent Denmead in a Hampshire Cup Final is a great honour and a moment I'm really proud of particularly for the players that have to put up with me week in week out.
All that pre season work is paying off!
I hope everyone connected to our team enjoy the cup final and support our players today as we hope to complete the treble this season.
I know they are all excited if not a little nervous.
COME ON DENMEAD !!!
CAPTAIN’S WORD
DENMEAD LIONS
Ollie Team Captain
Hi, I’m Ollie and I am the Denmead Lions U14s captain. I have been kicking balls for Denmead for almost 10 years now and reaching the Hampshire Cup Final is a very proud moment for me and my teammates. We have been very lucky in recent years winning many trophies and hopefully we can win this one too. Clanfield are a strong side and have done well to reach the final also and we look forward to the challenge of playing them.
My teammates and I would also love to win this for coaches Mark and Sam as they have given us so much of their time and effort to get our team to the level it is currently at. Mark and Sam have been coaching this team for around 8 years now and I know they would love us to win it. For Denmead Lions we have done so well this year, getting to the final with 12 players some of which have played through injuries and illness to get us here and for that I am really proud of my teammates. As our biggest fan would say “COME ON DENMEAD”.
