QWhat’s the on-trend colour for windows right now?
Colour is the trend! Trends come and go, but our doors and windows are built to last so they need to stand the test of time. The key is to select shades that match your build. Like the subtle elegance of Agate Grey on a stone build.
Modern homes can afford to be more daring with bold colours. Match doors with windows to play it safe or make a statement by choosing different door colours. For more industrial builds, black is the new black. It’s no longer all about Anthracite Grey.
QDo you offer glazing upgrades such as triple glazing, and what are the benefits?
We do. Our customers want to know our products are good for them and for the environment, which is why we offer argon gas filled units for superior insulation and soundproofing, as well as triple glazed options on certain products.
QShould I be worried about building material shortages for windows and doors?
Whilst the industry is returning to some normality, we’re still experiencing shortages of certain materials. With aluminium, our advice remains to go with stock finishes – grey, white, black – to avoid disappointment. With PVCu, Quickslide is in a good position as we have brought as many processes in-house as possible so we can remain in control of both quality and lead time – an area where other suppliers may struggle.
We continue to see price increases in materials, labour, and shipping, and realistically we expect to see more in 2022. So, at Quickslide our strong ethos of continuous improvement has never been more important than now, as we find ways to continually improve our internal efficiencies to help counter these rising costs. Window tendering usually takes place very early on, at groundwork stage latest. This allows sufficient time to agree designs and pricing and choose the right fenestration partner.
QEnergy efficiency is paramount for my new build project. How energy efficient are Quickslide’s windows and doors?
Our windows and doors are available with an energy rating of up to ‘A+’ and u-values as low as 1.0; top in class for energy efficiency. With its multi-chambered profile, a PVCu window offers the best in thermal efficiency. The chambers act as pockets, helping eliminate thermal bridging.
For energy efficient aluminium windows, make sure the aluminium is thermally broken. All aluminium windows and doors made by Quickslide feature a polyamide strip fixed inside the frame, creating a barrier to ensure very little heat and cold is transferred through the frame.
Whichever you opt for, Quickslide windows and doors are made to order, so you can also add features and upgrades to improve the overall energy efficiency, such as argon gas filled units.
QMy homebuyers are looking for open plan spaces that stretch into the garden. What’s best for this: French doors, bi-fold doors or sliding doors?
Bringing the outside in needs to be balanced with keeping the outside out too, in terms of weather and security! That’s why all Quickslide doors prioritise performance and security along with aesthetic results. French doors are ideal for smaller openings, while aluminium bifolds give a seamless wow factor for larger spaces. Sliding doors make any space bigger and brighter, with a large glass area and minimal features.
QAt what stage of the new build process should I order the doors and windows?
