Leaving the nest? If you’re moving away from home for school this year and are going to be living in off-campus student housing, make sure your landlord fixes any electrical hazards before moving in. Some common issues to watch out for include: • Loose or damaged plugs and switches, or outlets and switches missing cover plates. • Fuses and switches that are warm or hot to the touch.

• Exposed electrical wiring. • Fuses that blow or circuit breakers that frequently trip, or outlets that don’t work when fuses are replaced or breakers reset.
