How Next in Fashion is the New Fashion Forward Netflix Series

Project Runway has some new competition as the new fashion forward Netflix series Next in Fashion takes over the spotlight. Hosted by Tan France and Alexa Chung, the designers team up to create visionary looks to fit everybody in this competition series. The reality show arrives with a familiar premise. Designers compete in teams in weekly challenges to create the best looks, which are presented in a runway show judged by a panel of fashion icons. The designers take their visions to a bountiful room full of fabrics that they have at their disposal.

Soon after they have less than two full days to finish their creations to be ready for the runway. Each designer has been inducted into the fashion design world and many of which are well known for designing and styling many famous actors and musicians. Such as, Post Malone, Beyonce and Will Smith. Designer Kiki launched street style Fubu’s womenswear, another is an Italian designer who offers a rock and roll aesthetic and leads a sort of softcore Dolce & Gabbana brand. As well as, two brits two graduated from Central Saint Martins, which is the fashion-world equivalent of “I went to Harvard”.

Next in Fashion has an advantage over all of the network and basic cable imitators from almost a decade ago in that the show features Netflix superstar Tan France front and center. In that the show is on a streaming service that millions of people just put on and leave on all day long. This is the fashion competition we have been waiting for as each look is fashion forward, trendy and wearable to anybody. Not to mention, the hosts bring to life the light behind the curtain and share their top tips on some of designs most well known trends such as streetwear, suits, and prints.

The show is worth binging as the drama heats up in the sewing room and these designers are fighting for their chance to make it on top. The prize is $250,000, courtesy of Net-a-Porter, which is creme de la creme of fashion retail sites with over 700 brands. Within the first five minutes of the series, it’s clear that we’re playing on a whole different level. Nearly every challenge includes producing a men’s look as well as a women’s. The show has got its finger on the pulse of the industry. Everything is in place for the next Hilfiger, the next Ralph Lauren or the next Brandon Maxwell to emerge. 8
