Brian Hazelwood Vol. Assistant Coach • Fourth Season @BHazelwoodMSU

Brian Hazelwood enters his fourth season as a volunteer assistant with the Mississippi State volleyball program. He is assigned on-court coaching duties as well as assists in the offensive and defensive game planning throughout the season. The Clinton, Miss., native also aids in the preparation of scouting reports for each of the Bulldogs’ opponents.

Hazelwood was a two-time All-Southeastern Conference placekicker during his MSU career (1995-98). He later played four seasons as a placekicker in the arena football league, earning second-team all-league honors in three of his four seasons. He is married to Jenny Hazelwood and they are the parents of two children, Allison Riley and Andrew Brian.

Strength Coach | First Season

Athletic Trainer | First Season

Kayleigh Zavadil enters her first year with Mississippi State in 2014, taking on the role as the team’s certified athletic trainer. Zavadil serves all team medical needs, tasked with the responsibility of keeping the Bulldogs healthy and injury free. Although a native of Columbus, Nebraska, Zavadil is no stranger to the Southeastern Conference. Prior to coming to Starkville, Zavadil served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala. There she obtained her Masters of Arts degree in Health Studies. While at Alabama, she served as the graduate assistant trainer for the men’s and women’s tennis programs. Zavadil ended her time with the Crimson Tide at the 2014 NCAA Individual Championships, where UA’s women’s doubles won national title honors on her final day. Before taking on graduate school, Zavadil earned her Bachelor of Science in athletic training at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Office Associate | Sixth Season

Sports Information Director | First Season

Tending to the countless administrative tasks associated with the Volleyball Bulldogs and the MSU coaching staff is Midge Davis, in her sixth year on the Mississippi State University Athletics Department staff. In addition to her administrative duties with volleyball, she also serves in a similar capacity with MSU soccer and both the men’s and women’s golf programs. A native of Mantachie, Miss., Davis earned an associate degree at Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, Ark. She previously served for 14 years as an administrative assistant at East Central Community College in Decatur, Miss. She is married to Gene Davis, recently retired after a 36-year career as a college administrator. They have one son, Blake Hedrick.

Handling all the public relations and media needs for the Bulldogs, Hunter Richardson enters his fourth year at MSU and first with the volleyball program. Richardson joins the volleyball Bulldogs as a graduate assistant in the media relations department after spending the prior three years as a student assistant. Along with handling PR duties for volleyball, Richardson also enters his third season as sports information director of MSU men’s tennis. As volleyball’s SID, Richardson oversees all website content for the sport, while handling statistics, social media and match previews and recaps. He also acts as the liason between the volleyball Dogs and the media. A native of Memphis, Tenn., Richardson graduated from Mississippi State in the May of 2014 with a bachelor’s of arts in communication with concentrations in journalism and public relations. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in sports administration.

Academic Counselor | Second Season

Kylie Amato, a native of Toomsuba, Miss., enters her sixth year with MSU and second with the volleyball team. Prior to joining MSU, Amato was the Assistant Director at Florida State where she served, the last seven years, as the Academic Counselor for Women’s Basketball, Baseball and Women’s Tennis. In addition, she served as the Advising Coordinator between Academic Athletic Advising and Advising First. She also served as a staff representative to FSU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and is an active member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics. Amato was a letter winner in volleyball at the West Alabama where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Moving into coaching thereafter, Amato joined the Northwestern State volleyball program as a graduate assistant coach. While there, she earned her Master’s Degree in Sports Administration.

Sr. Women’s Assoc. | 21st Season

Overseeing all strength and conditioning matters for the volleyball Bulldogs is Elizabeth (ZZ) Gore, who enters her first season at Mississippi State. Gore is tasked with keeping the Bulldogs in peak physical shape and match ready throughout the entire season. An avid runner, Gore was on the track and field team at Purdue, where she graduated from in 2011 with her Bachelor’s of Science in Health and Fitness and Organizational Leadership and Supervision. Gore obtained her Masters of Health and Human Performance at the University of Montana in 2014, where she also served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach. Along with Purdue and Montana, Gore has had internship experience at the University of Cincinnati and Notre Dame, making her a strong and experienced addition to an already stellar athletic strength and conditioning program at Mississippi State. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Gore was born June 24, 1990 to Cindy and Jim Gore. She has one brother, Matt. In her spare time, Gore enjoys reading and running.

A 19-year veteran in athletic administration at Mississippi State and a former Lady Bulldog athlete, Ann Carr serves as senior associate athletics director and senior women’s administrator. Carr is in her second stint with the Mississippi State athletic department. She served for seven years as Assistant Athletic Director for Student Life, working with the personal development of MSU’s studentathletes in addition to responsibilities as academic counselor for the Bulldog football team. In June 2006 she was named associate athletic director for women’s sports and was elevated to her current position in June 2008. Carr serves as the director of the department’s Life Skills program, which includes the support systems and career programs for all MSU student-athletes, and its CHAMPS program. As SWA, Carr oversees the operation and the supervision of State’s nine athletics teams for women and serves as the direct departmental liaison with the Bulldog volleyball team. Hired in 1993 as an assistant director in the athletic academic office, she returned to the department in 1999. A native of Brookhaven, Miss., Carr was a four-year letterwinner (1986-90) in basketball at Mississippi State. Carr, a 1990 graduate of State, also earned her master’s degree in counseling at MSU in 1992.
