Mung Bean Now Open! Hadleigh’s new Health and Wholefood shop opened its doors to customers on Thursday May 22nd. At 11 o’clock, Jan Byrne, Hadleigh’s Town Councillor and renowned supporter of the High Street cut the green ribbon to allow people in. The supporters were greeted with a glass of champagne and gluten free cake. The road to getting the shop open has been a long one. We had hoped to be up and running long before Easter but that was not to be. We would have given up, but for the tremendous support for the project that we have received from people in Hadleigh. The staff: Trudy, Lorraine and Suzanne, have worked tirelessly to make the shop a reality. Never loosing their sense of humour, even when getting buried under bags of porridge and muesli base! Hopefully we now have all the items in stock that people keep saying they are looking forward to buying in Hadleigh once again. We have a wide range of organic produce, gluten free produce and general wholefoods. We stock cosmetics and toiletries that are animal cruelty free and environmentally friendly, and good quality dietary supplements. Come and visit us at 2 Maiden Way, between the dry cleaners and Le Petit Paris Bistro. If we do not have the items you are looking for in stock, we will do our best to get it for you. GSOLICITORS IBBONS Howard and Roy Gwinnell Dear Readers, I so look forward to the longer days when the year gives way to Summer. I was delighted to be able to join Roy Gwinnell of R Gwinnell & Sons Undertakers for the opening of his firm’s new premises at 32 High Street Hadleigh. The rooms are light and airy and beautifully appointed. Gwinnells only run Rolls-Royce motor cars and the photograph shows me with Roy Gwinnell in front of a Phantom V hearse and limousine. You may have seen the horse drawn hearse and landau in the High Street too. I know only too well what a good job that Gwinnells do as they handled my late father’s funeral. The loss of a loved one is always a blow but you will be assured of a sympathetic service from Gwinnells. One never wishes to contemplate one’s own demise, however, have you made your Will yet? On the whole this is a fairly straight forward procedure and will avert complications that could creep in should you die without a Will. Why not call us to discuss matters. If you are thinking about having your affairs in order, do you have a Lasting Power of Attorney? As most of you will know this is a document that appoints someone else to manage your affairs and is very useful since it outlives any mental incapacity on your part. For example, you may wish to appoint your spouse and children to manage your affairs. There are in fact two types of Lasting Power of Attorney, one for Property and Affairs and the other for Health and Welfare and it is likely to be the former that will be of interest to you. Do come to see us so that we can make all of the arrangements on your behalf. As always, I was pleased to meet some of my readers at Christchurch Mansion and on the sea front at Felixstowe for the classic car run. As over five hundred cars drove the old route the roads were lined with the public waving and cheering. It is such an exciting day. I was pleased to be able to have a chat with the lady Mayor of Felixstowe on the seafront. I was sad to hear that Felixstowe had not had a Mayoral car for many years. It would be so nice for some of the trappings of Civic office to be retained. As I have mentioned to you before when I was growing up in Harrow, the Mayor would attend events in his Rolls-Royce Phantom and it was such a special occasion. Howard Gibbons
