As an industry that works almost exclusively with 12V battery systems, the news that Tesla are now fitting 16V Lithium batteries is quite an event and something that presents a servicing and repair challenge to the industry. Though these new models are unlikely to be a daily sight in most repair workshops, the Tesla Model Y is currently the No 1 selling EV in the UK which creates an immediate problem for windscreen repairers, (especially for ADAS), bodyshops and for used car sales, as 16V charging products are not that widespread .
