A couple of weeks later I found myself outdoors one night.

I was very hungry; those ten kroner were gone all too quickly.

It was now nearly three days since I had eaten anything and I felt weak.

I suffered no pain, my hunger had taken the edge off; instead I felt pleasantly empty, untouched by everything around me.

I felt a raw chill in my limbs.
