Bio Char the new Black Gold - Launch at COP26-Evolve Trading and Investment
In November 2021, world leaders will meet in Glasgow for COP26 the UN Climate Change Conference, this in a year when the world has recorded its highest temperatures on record and countries including Canada, the USA, Germany, Belgium, Greece, and Turkey have all experienced Mr George K Irvine, Senior Vice President, Evolve Trading and extreme weather-related events. You would like to think this conference will be the one that delivers a globally supported action plan to ensure the measures that need to be taken to effectively combat climate change are put in place. The recently published report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) talking about the benefits of decarbonisation should be unnecessary. The Report highlighted that Global warming of 1.5°C and 2°C will be exceeded during the 21st century unless deep reductions in carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gas emissions occur in the coming decades”. Over the last 25 years, the amount of waste produced by cities have increased e x p o n e n t i a l l y. Improvements in waste collection have been made and our streets cleaner, but the disposal of millions of tonnes of waste still is a major issue. Landfill sites are overwhelmed, and water tables are becoming polluted as the toxins and chemicals from decomposing waste soaks into the ground. This situation is clearly not sustainable, and action needs to be taken to reverse this global crisis. Our Initial studies have found that we could Generate up to 5 MW/h of energy from simple domestic waste. Unlike other waste to power units (incineration) that burn the feedstock to generate power, pyrolysis system using hot temperatures and zero oxygen shall ensure that all matter is broken down to its base level. It will ensure that not only energy can be generated, but also metals and glass recovered, and a carbon rich char produced. The technology is currently being used by Royal Navy on both of its Queen Elizabeth aircraft carriers and has the ability to process clinical waste on site and there is no need for this waste to go to landfill. We have chosen Guyana as the first country that will benefit by implementing this clean green sustainable alternative for power generation and bioremediation of the soil. When Guyana implements this technology, we are confident that Guyana would exceed the expectations set down by the Paris Climate Agreement, join the global carbon capture club to reduce carbon emissions and would have every chance of setting the standard of becoming the first carbon neutral region in South America with the reliance and eradication of landfills well before the current target of 2030. We have engaged with leading UK Academia and Mr Neil Passmore, owner of one of the largest coconut farms in Guyana to use our technology to convert coconut husks into bio energy and sequestrated bio char (Organic Super fertiliser) which has been proven to improve soil fertility by increasing agricultural yields in degraded soils from 20200%. This organic char can be impregnated into the land thus completing the environmental circle. Any excess energy will be made available to the local community. As part of our Local Content Development Plan (LCDP), we plan to establish a skills-based training facility at each location to ensure that we have the correct competence to operate the unit(s). The units will be designed and built in The United Kingdom before being transported overseas for further installation, operation, and handover to the client.
