Hip hop collective o Gaernarfon yw 3 Hwr Doeth, yn arbrofi gyda synau gwahanol ag yn uno eu dylanwadau eclectig i greu rap Cymraeg sy’n ymgorffori elfennau o funk, jazz a blues. A mysterious hip hop crew from the Caernarfon area, big on lo-fi beats, weird pseudonyms and swearing, 3 Hwr Doeth bring the weirdness and Welsh language rap grubbiness in the best way since cult icons Tystion. Their debut, self-titled album, released on the great Pasta Hull label, is a rowdy 16-tracker, taking in much guest appearances and dissolute living, and which, in Smocio, Hustlo, Dwyn O Tesco, contains both epic title and life motto, whatever lingo you speak.

Ma’r ddeuawd yn ddewiniaid ar greu riffs blues rock trwm a mae’r ddeuawd o Langrug yn barod i gymryd dros y byd, a’r gweddill. In these mid-apocalyptic craptimes, you have to hold on to good news when you can, so it’s been majorly heartening to see the unexpected success that’s landed at Alffa’s door recently. Made up of two lads from Llanrug, North Wales, fresh from school, last year Alffa famously became the first band to achieve one million streams of a Welsh language song on Spotify, and now on over 2.8 million for Gwenwyn, a blues rock stomper in Black Keys or White Stripes vein. But there’s more: the rock is strong with these ones; expect a global takeover.

Bonkers brilliant Spanish electropop of the highest order. Supremely eclectic mix of high energy synths, psychedelic disco, glam stomp and latino flourishes. The “Isla Bonita” EP on cult Barcelona label Foehn Records will give you a brief glimpse into his out of this world mindset. This is sure to be one of the most FUN sets of the weekend!
AMBER ARCADES Rhyngwladolydd gyda digon o brofiad teithio tu ôl iddi, mae albwm diweddaraf Amber Arcades ‘European Heartbreak‘ yn dyst i dalent Annelotte de Graaf fel un o grefftwyr pop-breuddwydiol seicedelig gorau sydd o gwmpas. Yn dwyllodrus o dyner, mae European Heartbreak dal i guddio corneli tywyll yn ei hystumiadau hafol, ac yn dilyn y gân Wouldn’t Even Know, ei deuawd gyda Bill Ryder-Jones, sydd hefyd yn chwarae Sŵn eleni. A well-travelled internationalist, Amber Arcades’ latest album European Heartbreak maybe titled a little painfully for some at this time, but still confirms Annelotte de Graaf as one of the best crafters of lopsided psychedelic dreampop around. Deceptively gentle, European Heartbreak still hides dark corners in its summery meanderings, and follows Wouldn’t Even Know, her Nancy and Lee-style duet with Bill Ryder-Jones, who is also playing this year’s Swn… Whatever happens, everything will be alright for this set at least.
ANI GLASS Un o artistiaid oddi ar y label arbrofol o gaerdydd, Recordiau Neb yw Ani Glass. Does dim diwedd i allbynnau creadigol Ani Glass, yn o gystal a sgwennu cerddoriaeth pop electronig, mae hi hefyd yn cynhyrchu ei cherddoriaeth i gyd ag yn arlunydd a ffotograffydd brwd. “Cerddoriaeth ar gyfer diwedd y byd, a dechrau un newydd” meddai Laura Snapes o Pitchfork.
One of the most anticipated events of 2019, in the more discerning parts at least, is the debut album from Ani Saunders. Since 2016, having left pop modernists The Pipettes, Glass has been releasing electronic tracks laced with quiet drama, with Perianaeth Perffaith, all ice vocals and synth swooning, one of last year’s best. Now, her recent MA in Urban and Regional Development has informed a forthcoming album of modern city songs: gleaming, frantic and celebratory.
