GROUNDWORK CASE STUDY PROJEC T BACKGROUND ff

Originally the site was a featureless open grass area. This was then utilised as a site compound over a period of years for the internal refurbishment programme on the estate. On completion of the internal refurbishments, attention was then given to the external environmental improvements.

ff

Welcomed by the Tenants & Residents Association, the site was identified as an opportunity by Eastlands Homes to create a community garden and focal point for outdoor community activities.

ff

A local artist was employed to engage local residents through a series of workshops, to create bespoke features that enrich the space by capturing the history of the site -

“Groundwork has provided Eastlands Homes with an excellent service for many years. From the consultation to the planning and design of environmental improvements, the service offered by Groundwork has helped us work towards our vision of creating safe and successful neighbourhoods Debbie Teece (Project Manager) Eastlands Homes

The site is located on the line of the Nico Ditch: An Anglo - Saxon boundary marker, part of which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument
