Sherry Adams Mrs. Sherry Adams, age 67, of Buford, GA passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016. She was preceded in death by her loving spouse of 44 years Van Adams; parents, Clay and Mary Deaton; sister in-law and brothers in-law Virginia and Ernest Bragg, Harold Dowdy, Ronald Dollar, and Joey Gearin. She is survived by her son and daughter in-law, Todd and Heather Adams, Flowery Branch, GA; daughter and son in-law, Deinna and Randy Jones, Buford, GA; grandchildren, Hayden Prichard, Megan Prichard, Troy Adams, Annabeth Adams, Harrison Jones and Asa Jones; sisters and brothers in-law, Betty Dollar, Sugar Hill, GA, Bobbie and Wade Queen, Sugar Hill, GA, Pat Dowdy, Cleveland, GA, Linda and Rannie House, Buford, GA, Deborah Deaton, Buford, GA, and Leisha Gearin, Sugar Hill, GA, brother in-law and sister in-law, Vernon and Betty Jo Adams, Buford, GA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Adams was born July 27, 1948 in Buford, GA. She was a member of the Buford High School Class of 1966. Sherry enjoyed many years as a stay at home mom. As her children got older, she worked various jobs including Western Sirloin Steakhouse and Anglin’s Drug Store. She was later self-employed cleaning houses with her mother and sister, Deborah. In the mid 90s, she opened Classroom Depot, a teacher supply store serving the Buford area. While living in Buford, Mrs. Adams was an active member of the First Baptist Church where she loved teaching the 2 year old Sunday school class for many years. Later, after moving to Gainesville, she joined Oak Grove Baptist Church where she was active in Sunday school and enjoyed helping in the nursery. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Malcom officiating. Interment will follow in Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. He was a veteran of the United States National Guard. 1965 graduate of Tucker High School and a 1968 graduate of the University of GA with a Bachelors Degree. He was a retired Title Examiner with The Alford Family Law Firm in Tucker GA for many years. He was co-owner of American Systems and Programming until1998. He was involved in The Serenity House in Buford for over twenty years. He played in a band with The Georgia Dawgs. He was an avid GA Bulldog fan. A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Jon Leslie Alford will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. William Brandon Mr. William H. (Billy) Brandon, age 66, of Dacula, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016. He was preceded in death by his mother Nancy Hunter Brandon, and his father Judge Frank W. He was one of the authors of the textbook Street Law which was used in most of the high schools in Georgia. His fun-loving personality and great humor will live with all of us. Born March 27, 1937 in Norcross to the late Paul and Winnie Robertson, she lived most of her life in Buford before moving to Dawson County when her health began to decline. June graduated from Buford High School where she played basketball and graduated Nursing School in 1969 dedicating her life to providing healthcare to others. Throughout her career she worked at Button Gwinnett Hospital and Buford General Hospital where she assisted with the births of the first babies
