ASUS ZENBOOK Prime Ultrabooks In order to keep up with the new trend Asus gives us something called Asus UX21aUltrabook, an ultra-portable laptop designed to meet Intel's latest big idea (the ZENBOOK Prime Ultrabook).Made entirely out of polished aluminum, weighing only 2.4lb/1.1kg and having 0.66 inches /17 mm as maximum thickness, you can consider this a very thin and light device. Some of us will be very happy to find out that you can have the UX21 in an 11.6 inch display, that’s because almost all the ZENBOOK Prime Ultrabooks have a 13 inch display, Asus also made an almost identical 13. inch version of the UX21a called Asus UX31a ZENBOOK Prime Ultrabook.Once you open the UX21a you'll be able to see the 11.6 inch glossy display with a 1366x768 resolution, a keyboard with full metal keys and a track pad made out of glass that turns out to be a click pad. Unfortunately a very important feature is missing, there is no webcam and this could be a big downside for some of the people who'll intend to buy it. When it comes to connectivity, you get a micro HDMI port, a USB 3.0 and a power jack, all this could be found on the right side, the rest of ports are on the left side, there is a 3.5 mm audio jack, another USB 3.0 and a VGA socket that requires an adapter in order to work, that doesn't seems very practical and many said that a normal VGA port would have been better, but in the end what can you ask from 0.66 inches of maximum thickness. The Asus UX21a Ultrabook may look small and innocent but don't get fooled by the appearances, in a maximum configuration you'll get the new Intel Core i7-3317U Ivy Bridge processor, 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB SATAIII SSD of storage as well as Intel HD 4000 graphics onboard, you can also chose the Intel Core i5-3517 as a processor. Asus says that the UX21 will resume from sleep mode in just 2 seconds and the integrated battery will have autonomy of 7hours but if you keep the Ultrabook in sleep mode the battery will last up to 7 days. So with the Asus UX21a Ultrabook you definitely won't get embarrassed but is it the best Ultrabook out there? Well it has very good build quality; you can really feel that every piece is well connected to the other one and it has USB 3.0 connectivity and an i7 processor, but is letdown by precise track pad, keys with no feel and high operating temperatures (noise is not a problem though). Until then the best Ultrabook still remains the Mac Book Air, Apple's first attempt at a slim and light laptop, now refined with the second generation Intel Core series processors. If you want the best Ultrabook get the Zenbook Prime without a doubt the top shelf ultrabook available with ASUS announcing new Zenbook’s to ship with touch screens with the arrival of Windows 8 in the coming weeks.
