Strengthening Civil Society Across Borders to Develop Democracy: Practical Guide
Objectives/goals
The
key objectives of the project were:
• To increase the capacity of CSOs to network and advocate government effectively
• To improve the functioning of existing mechanisms for interaction between the state and civil society
In both Ukraine and Moldova, the actions were directed towards civil society leaders and practitioners, as well as local, regional and national government officials involved in working with civil society. The actions were aimed at
establishing an efficient platform for communication, collaboration and transfer of knowledge between representatives of central government and civil society. The objectives lead to three outcomes that were envisaged by the project:

1. CSO practitioners are more able to advocate government in an effective and pro-active manner 2. CSOs and their staff are able to develop their own networks to engage in collaborative action
3. The formal mechanisms for government-civil society relations work effectively and transparently
