THE Northern Shooting Show has been acquired by events and media company Stable Events Ltd for an undisclosed sum. Stable Events Ltd brings with it the organisational team behind the Game Fair, the GWCT Scottish Game Fair and World Gunmakers Evening. It is also the owner of Gun Trade News.

The Northern Shooting Show will take place for the fifth time on May 7-8 2022 at the Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate. The uniquely placed venue also has room to accommodate expansion of the event and a favourable ‘free car parking’ policy, which is critical for high visitor attendance. The two-day event expects to welcome around 20,000 shooting enthusiasts this year. Exhibitors and visitors have been assured that they will not notice any difference to the show under the new owners.

Strength to strength

James Gower, Managing Director of Stable Events Ltd, said, “The team and I are pleased to have secured the running of the Northern Show in May and will ensure that the show continues to go from strength to strength for many years to come. It is a vital event for the industry and was sorely missed during the Covid hiatus. We will be bringing our passion for the countryside and our event expertise to develop the show whilst maintaining its specialist shooting focus.”

“Stable Events Ltd brings a wealth of marketing and PR strength, alongside commercial and organisational experience. We are delighted to be working alongside this new team to deliver the most comprehensive dedicated shooting show in Great Britain,” added Paul Whitelam, Show Organiser.

The acquisition is arguably the most impressive in a busy few months for a reinvigorated Stable Events, which has seen it use its new financial backing to acquire the Scottish Game Fair and Gun Trade News, among other key British shooting media brands.

Insiders have told GTN that the deal was not about the Northern Shooting Show being in financial trouble but rather that there was a recognition that the previous owner’s tenure had run its course and that there was now a need for a new focus to help the show grow in the years to come. GTN
