as our own — tired grandfathers, jovial young adults, small moments that are relatable and beautiful in a single frame. This summer Swindle is the featured artist at the Foley Art Center and you can see a wall full of his gorgeous images. You can also see the handcrafted creations he fashions from beach wood — pens and jewelry. Each is made from drift wood that experienced a full journey before finally resting on Alabama’s shore, he said, and therefore, each piece has a

story to tell. He is also putting together a book of his photography titled, “Some of My Shots.” Swindle said he prefers not to take on the stress of photographing weddings and other more traditional photography gigs. Instead he likes the freedom to photograph the beauty he sees every day. “If I see something that appeals to me I’ll run with it. I’ll work it and try to turn it into something really pleasing,” he said. Swindle said the ultimate reward is

when someone loves his piece enough to hang it in their home. “It really makes a difference when somebody appreciates one of my shots,” he said. “If they purchase it, that is an honor to me. That brings me a lot of joy and pleasure to see that it brings somebody else joy.”
