At Weird Fish, we love supporting charities that make a difference, one of our long term partners are the RSPB, a national wildlife charity. We spread the word on the fantastic work they do through our men’s graphic tees, our Artist T-Shirts.
With the RSPB we are hoping to inspire you all to encourage wildlife into your garden! This is a great one to get the kids involved in and aware of the nature and wildlife around them. Here is how to make an easy DIY Bird Feeder from a plastic bottle – yay for recycling and repurposing plastic!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Here is what you will need to get started and make your very own bird feeder!
Make sure all your plastic bits and bobs are clean (plastic bottles, yoghurt pots and milk cartons)!
Plastic bottles such as a plastic water bottle Birdseed ( if you have a nut allergy please be careful and ensure your seed is nut-free) A good pair of scissors Plastic yoghurt pots or a milk carton String, Wire or Twine
Make a few small holes in the bottom of your feeder to allow any rainwater to drain away.

If your feeder starts to wear out or the food in it goes mouldy, recycle it and make another one! Remember to keep your feeders well stocked, especially in winter. Birds come to rely on them and will go hungry if you forget.

Cut a hole in the side large enough to allow a free flow of seeds, but in such a way that it won’t all fall out on the ground in the slightest puff of wind, and won’t get wet if it rains.

Hang it with wire, or even a piece of strong string from a tree or your washing line.
