ICAEW promotes trust, inclusivity, diversity, and fairness. We attract talented individuals from any background into the profession. We proceed to give them the skills and values they need to build resilient businesses, economies, and societies while ensuring our planet’s resources are managed sustainably.

ICAEW is proud to be part of Chartered Accountants Worldwide, a global network of 750,000 members across 190 countries as well as the Global Accounting Alliance, which promotes the expertise and skills of chartered accountants on a global basis. These recognitions make ICAEW one of the most portable and recognised professional memberships in the world, allowing ICAEW Chartered Accountants to work in more than 150 different countries. Moreover, the 15 modules in the ICAEW ACA qualification have integrated components that give individuals an indepth understanding of accountancy, finance and business. The programme (and the continuous learning after the programme's completion) helps build technical knowledge, professional skills and practical experience for ICAEW Chartered Accountants. With that, our accountants are always relevant and resilient in any environment.

ICAEW is a forward-thinking professional body even way before the pandemic. Since 2017, ICAEW has started implementing electronic examinations as well as embedding ICAEW’s ABCD in technology including AI, blockchain, cryptocurrency and cybersecurity, cloud computing and data analytics into its curriculum. During the pandemic, ICAEW students can take their exams safely from home via remote invigilation. ICAEW chartered accountants were also able to work remotely via cloud computing and virtual environments as they have been trained to be resilient, innovative, and agile.

WORKPLACE CULTURE What makes your organisation's culture unique? There are more than 1.8mil chartered accountants and students around the world, with 186,500 of them being members and students of ICAEW. Our candidates are talented, ethical, and committed professionals, trained to be specialists in business and finance – which is why all of the top 100 Global Brands employ chartered accountants from ICAEW (CAW, 2020 – Interbrand, Best Global Brands 2019). To be admitted as an ICAEW member, applicants must have attained the required knowledge, skills, and work experience. This includes • A compulsory three years work experience with 450 technical days logged in with any of our Authorised Training Employers (ATEs). • A combination of studies and examinations complemented by professional experience. Overall, these requirements help hone skills necessary for ICAEW chartered accountants to not only be sound technically but also to be business advisors.
