Welcome to Philadelphia and Life Sciences Future LIFE SCIENCES FUTURE was created to bring together

our diverse membership and the broader community of life sciences stakeholders

in the Mid-Atlantic region.

This year’s conference was developed to reflect the

interdependencies inherent in

the new healthcare environment – between academic research, entrepreneurs, industry,

investors, government and, ultimately, patients. This is

a conference focused on the

newest scientific advancements while looking into the future of our industry.

October 25, the opening day of Life Sciences Future, features

our symposium, Partnerships in Science, created to put research institutions, early to midstage companies, and business development teams in the same room to forge relationships that could lead to business opportunities. The event is designed for investors, research institutions, and individuals involved in biotechnology,

October 26 begins with Breakfast in the C-Suite for our chief executives, with special guest Todd Komarnicki, the writer of Sully, the Untold Story of the Miracle on the Hudson. Following Breakfast in the C-Suite is our Opening Keynote Address, IBM Watson - How Data and Cognitive Insight will Transform the Life Sciences Landscape, led by Louisa Roberts, Associate Partner and Solution Executive for IBM

Your continuing commitment to the life sciences industry helps to build a community that supports and nurtures the growth of our companies. We also are indebted to our incredible volunteer corps who have worked unselfishly for months to direct the conference content and make the event possible. Finally, we thank each of you. We hope you will learn something new, make new friends, and forge strategic connections as we all work toward advancing the future of the industry.

Partnering for scientific leadership At AstraZeneca, we believe in the power of what science can do to transform serious diseases like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, COPD and asthma. We also know that breakthrough science doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens through partnership.

Our expertise spans the entire life-cycle of a medicine and we have a rare combination of discovery and development strengths in small molecules and biologics, immunotherapies, protein engineering technologies and devices. These are reinforced by a strong focus on translational science and personalised healthcare.

To find out more, visit astrazeneca.com/Partnering

What science can do Circulating tumour DNA AstraZeneca has pioneered the use of circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) in the diagnosis of cancer. Pieces of DNA break off from a tumour and circulate in the bloodstream where they can be analysed to give genetic information about a patient’s tumour. This allows healthcare professionals to determine the right treatment for the patient using a noninvasive blood test.
