Free Help For Veterans And Dependents

While there are many veterans and their families in Northern Michigan, some may not know there is an office where they can work with an advocate to obtain all their VA benefits.

The Grand Traverse County Department of Veterans Affairs is a local office funded by millage dollars to assist clients for no cost - ever! The office is a clearinghouse for Grand Traverse Veterans and social services within the region. Our staff is happy to assist you with any agency that offers services to veterans in our area specific to your situation

With the passing of the PACT ACT, veterans have been overwhelmed by radio and TV advertisements and social media marketing from attorneys or private for-profit organizations that want to help veterans file claims, for instance with the Camp Lejeune water contamination lawsuits Often those agencies take 30% or higher in money owed to you from the VA. Some even require large payments upfront just to review your documents. Alternatively, you can file for benefits through our office at no extra cost to you Our staff is accredited with the VA’s Office of General Counsel to represent clients in filing claims or appeals
