Receive Certification In Mental Health First Aid Training For Public Safety

Officers at the Sheriff's Office successfully completed Mental Health First Aid Training for Public Safety (MHFA), a national program offered by Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Inc. (ACH) through a partnership with Freedom Behavioral Health, Inc This program teaches law enforcement professionals how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.
MHFA is an 8-hour training that gives officers the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance abuse problem while helping connect them to appropriate care. It focuses on the unique experiences and needs of public safety personnel, and is a valuable resource that can make a positive difference in officer ’ li d th iti i hi h th P reviewed studies from across the globe show that MHF individuals administering and receiving care
