Jake Jury’s primary responsibilities at Georgia Tech include working with the outfielders to maintain their defensive fundamentals and assisting hitters to gain more knowledge of their personalized offensive approach. In 2015, Jury coached two players to hit above .300 in ACC play in Maddie Lionberger (.377) and Samantha PIerannunzi (.324) as the Yellow Jackets finished 16-34 overall and 6-18 in ACC play. In Jury’s first season on the Flats, the Yellow Jackets compiled a 23-24 record and 11-17 mark in ACC play. With Jury’s assistance, Tech hitters finished third in the ACC in batting average at .297 and five individual Yellow Jackets hit above .300 in ACC play. Jury joined the Tech staff from College of Charleston, where he served as the assistant coach in 2012-13. In 2013, Jury helped the Cougars to a 37-20 record and a secondplace finish in the Southern Conference. He assisted four members of the team earning first-team all-conference honors. Jury was promoted to assistant coach in 2013 after serving four seasons (2009-12) as the Cougars’ volunteer assistant coach. During that span, Jury coached third baseman Kristie Shifflett to 2009 Southern Conference Player of the Year honors and helped the team to back-to-back 37-win seasons in 2011 and 2012. A native of Anderson, S.C., Jury graduated from College of Charleston in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in history. His younger sister Leslie Jury pitched for Alabama, the 2012 national champion.
Erin Wright was hired July 25, 2015 as the Yellow Jackets’ pitching coach after spending the summer as a pitching coach for the National Pro Fastpitch’s PA Rebellion. Wright came to Georgia Tech from Troy where she was an assistant coach in 2015, and enters her second stint with Hoerner after serving as an assistant coach for Hoerner from 2006-08 at the College of Charleston. In 2015, Wright coached the SunBelt Pitcher of the Year, first-team all-conference and third-team NFCA all-region selection Jaycee Affeldt. Prior to coaching at Troy, Wright was the head coach at Hoover High School in Hoover, Ala. and earned the Over the Mountain Coach of the Year award in 2014 after leading the team to the state tournament. Wright pitched four years at Alabama (2000-04), where she earned multiple SEC Pitcher of the Week honors and was named to the 2003 NCAA regional all-tournament team. She posted a career mark of 62-21 in the circle with a 2.13 ERA and 558 strikeouts in 548.1 innings of work.
