Guthrie, ME, has been named Oklahoma City, Oklahoma district manager by Square D Company, major manufacturer of electrical distribution, control and connector equipment. George Marshall Leach, ME, died August 2, 1971. He was an engineer with North American Rockwell in Los Angeles. Elmore T. Mann, IM, received a Westinghouse Service A w a r d for 15 years of service. He has recently been promoted to Senior Engineer "B". Clinton Q. Richmond, IM and IE ('58), was killed July 7, 1971, in a derailment of a Penn Central train at Grand Central Terminal in New York. He w a s assistant director of plant operations and maintenance for the Martin Marietta Corporation in New York City. Mrs. Richmond resides at 21 Annadale Drive, Chappaqua, New York 10514. ' C ry Steven H. Fuller, Jr., CerE, has *-* ' been named the College of Industrial Management's Outstanding Alumnus of the Year at Tech. He is one of the co-founders of Underground Atlanta. Lt. Col. Thomas P. Harvard, Jr. (USA), IE, was graduated from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas on June 11th. He is scheduled for reassignment with the U.S. Army strategic communications command depot near Lexington, Kentucky. M. Dale Henson, IM, has formed an economic and market research consulting firm in Atlanta, Dale Henson Associates, which specializes in economic/market feasibility studies and site location analyses. 34

John A. Jordan, Jr.. IE, has been appointed as an assistant manager, planning, Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Bernard Kroll, BS, has been promoted to Executive Vice President of the Holder Construction Company in Atlanta, Georgia. ' j - Q Robert Bruce Adams, IE, received J O the M.B.A. degree from Bucknell University on May 30, 1971. Major Donald R. Delaney (USAF), CE, has received the Air Medal at Dover AFB, Delaware. He was decorated for his outstanding airmanship under hazardous conditions in Southeast Asia. Roger Earl Henderson, CE, received a M.S. degree in Engineering Management from the University of Alaska in May, 1971. William F. Lineberger, IE, has been appointed Vice President of Processing of Imperial Tobacco Group Limited, American Leaf Organization. Robert G. Marbut, IE, has been elected President of Harte-Hanks Newspapers Inc., a San Antonio based communications group that publishes 20 newspapers and operates one television station. Robert B. Parsons, Jr., MS, has been named vice president-systems administration of C.I.T. Financial Corporation. Dr. Joseph Donald Phillips, IM, has been named head of Ihe University of Alabama Department of Management in the College of Commerce and Business Administration. Dr. Cloyd Virgil Smith, CE, received an "Outstanding Teacher of the Year" award at Tech's annual faculty dinner. He is an associate professor in AE and is the winner of the 1969-70 award for Outstanding Professor in Aerospace Engineering. Robert S. Wellins, IE, has been appointed vice president of the Charles Klatskin Company, Inc., industrial real estate specialists. Harry C. Wolf, III, Arch, President of Wolf Associates Architects, will receive a National AIA Honor Award, the nation's highest professional recognition for architectural excellence.

' {- Q Jack L. Amason. ME, has taken *-* *•* over as General Manager for Sea Gardens, Inc., the company owned and operated by his father, Guy H. Amason, Sr., BA '30, prior to his death. George E. Cates, IE, has been elected President of MODUCOR, Inc., in Memphis, Tennessee. James W. Johnson, CE, has been named president of the Atlanta Merchandise Mart. He will also be responsible for managing office and retail space throughout the Peachtree Center complex. Alan G. Jones, Chem, actuarial assistant in Aetna Insurance Company's actuarial department, has been designated a fellow in the Casualty Actuarial Society. John A. Lasch, IM, has been promoted to Vice President in the Business Development Department of Union Bank's Headquarters Banking Office in Los Angeles, California. Lewis A. Lassetter, Jr.. IM, w a s graduated in June from the McGeorge School of Law, the University of Pacific, with a J.D. degree. R. Mitchell Lewis, IM, has been appointed Associate Manager of Walston & Company, Inc., member of the New York Stock Exchange, Inc. Robert G. Miller, ChE, has been named manager of coordination and planning in the elastomers department of Enjay Chemical Company. William J. VanLandingham, IE, w a s elected by the Atlanta Board of Education to fill the at-large post vacated by former board president, Bill Wainwright. He is executive vice president for public affairs of the C & S National Bank. Born to Mr. & Mrs. William B. White, IE, a son, William B. White, Jr., on June 15, 1971.
