F A C E S IN T H E N E W S R. J. Whitaker, '62, has been promoted to foreman, Silica Pigments, of PPG Industries, Chemical Division in Lake Charles, La. Prior to his promotion, he was involved in training for the start-up of the new pigments plant.

Walter G. Cornett III, '63, has been promoted to assistant to the president of Baxter Laboratories, Inc. With the company for one year, he previously served as marketing staff assistant and biomedical engineering staff assistant.

Edward L. Parrish, '63, has been promoted to salary administration officer of the North Carolina National Bank, Charlotte. He was formerly personnel officer for the bank's Greensboro offices. He joined NCNB after three years with Fieldcrest Mills. Haushang Rahimzadeh, '63, has been named an associate of Chastain and Tindel, Inc., Consulting Engineers, Atlanta. A native of Meshed, Iran, he has been with the firm since his graduation.

Ebert F. Harrold, '64, has been promoted to a senior associate mathematician in the Uprated Saturn I Control Design Department at International Business Machines' Federal Systems Division in Huntsville, Ala. He joined IBM in 1964 as a junior mathematician. Ronald E. Scharf, '65, has been promoted to market research manager with Baxter Laboratories, Inc. With the company for eight months, he previously served as marketing staff assistant.

Richard F. Wiggins, '65, has been promoted to manager, Industrial Products, at Southwire Company of Carrollton, Ga. He will be marketing Southwire products to the company's industrial accounts.

Eugene B. Van Etten, '67, has been named a service engineer at The Babcock & Wilcox Company's Atlanta district office. He joined the company's student engineer training program last June and is presently doing service I work in Spain. \

The family resides at 1014 Sunset Drive, Maryville, Tennessee, 37801. Married: Thomas Barney Hawkins, IM, to Miss Carol Ann Futrel, June 15. Mr. Hawkins will receive his MS degree in industrial management from Georgia Tech in June and then enter the Air Force as a second lieutenant in July. William S. Hood, Text., has completed advanced training as a combat engineer at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Donald C. Huff, CE, has graduated from US Army Engineer Officer Candidate School at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers. Jonathan M. Kubler, EE, has been promoted to a first lieutenant at Fort Hood, Texas, with Company A of the 57th Signal Battalion. Engaged: Allen Charles Merritt, ChE, to Miss Margaret Brice. Mr. Merritt is studying for a master's degree at Georgia Tech. Jerry L. Miller, Arch., has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the US Air Force upon graduation from Officer Training School at Lackland AFB, Texas. Lt. Miller is being assigned to Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, for training as a base civil engineer. Second Lt. John M. Pearson, ME, has been awarded US Air Force silver pilot wings upon graduation at Laredo AFB, Texas. Lt. Pearson is being assigned to George AFB, California, for flying duty with the Tactical Air Command. Second Lt. David J. Putman, ME, has graduated from the US Army Engineer Officer Candidate School at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers. Lt. Putman was designated both honor and academic graduate of his class in recognition of his leadership in both overall ability and academic average. Married: Teobaldo Rosell, IE, to Miss Ina G. Pons, August, 1967. Mr. Rosell is employed as an industrial engineer with Eastern Airlines in Miami. Robert C. Roehrkasse, IS, has received a regular commission in the US Air Force at Eglin AFB, Florida. First Lt. Elliott J. Rothschild, Arch., has been assigned to the US Army Engineers' Philadelphia District as a special assistant to the district engineer for architectural design. Second Lt. David C. Sanders, IE,

is attending a course for civil engineers at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. James Hall Seals. IM, to Miss Diann Marcia Eastabrook. Mr. Seals attends the University of Florida Law School. C. Michael Stuart, IE, has joined Eli Lilly and Company as an industrial engineer. Richard H. Volavka. ChE, has been named service engineer of The Babcock & Wilcox Company's Atlanta, Georgia, district office. Born to: Mr. & Mrs. Paul H. Warren, EE, a daughter, Julie Michelle, April 20. Mr. Warren was recently promoted to associate engineer in the R F Systems department of IBM at Cape Kennedy. Capt. Edward A. Weathers, IS, is on duty at Phu Cat AB, Vietnam. Capt. Bryan is being assigned to Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, for training as a base civil engineering officer. Capt. Jackie Burgess, IS, is stationed in Vietnam with the U. S. Air Force.
