Any use of online video sharing sites (such as YouTube), where the video is representing Girl Scouts or Girl Scout products, must follow specific requirements for that site. Girl Scout photo release forms must also be signed by parents/guardians and any adults pictured. Sign the Girl Scout Internet Safety Pledge (available at www.girlscouts.org/help/internet_safety_pledge.asp) before doing any online activities, and all online activities must be under the supervision of adults. Use girls’ first names only. Never post girls’ addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses. Never expose girl’s email address, physical address, or phone number to the public. When writing email messages or online announcements, girls should sign with their first name only, along with their group number or name and our name – Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital. Never, ever, ever post addresses of group meeting places or dates and times of meetings, events, or trips. (An adult volunteer who wishes to communicate upcoming events with families of girls should use email instead of posting details on a website, unless that site is password protected or is a closed/secret Facebook group.). Always have a parent/guardian sign a photo release form before using pictures of girls on a website. Make your troop site one that does not allow outsiders to post messages to the site, or make sure all postings (such as message boards or guest books) have adult oversight and are screened prior to posting live. Don’t violate copyright law by using designs, text from magazines or books, poetry, music, lyrics, videos, graphics, or trademarked symbols without specific permission from the copyright or trademark holder (and, generally, this permission is pretty tough to get!). Girl Scout trademarks (such as the trefoil shape, Girl Scout pins, and badges and patches) can be used only in accordance with guidelines for their use. (The Girl Scout trefoil, for example, may not be animated or used as wallpaper for a website.) See these guidelines on page 20.

The Council has two types of health history forms and procedures; one for troop activities and the other one for going to Day and Evening or Sleep Away Camp. Please always keep in mind that information on any type of health form is confidential and will be shared only with people who must know this information. Troop Activities At the beginning of each membership year, the troop leader will collect of copy of each girl’s Girl Health History/Emergency Medical Authorization Form. This form is completed by the parent or guardian. Non-Troop Camping Each summer when a girl goes to Day and Evening Camp or Sleep Away Camp, her parents or guardians have to complete separate health forms to participate. For Day and Evening Camp the following forms need to be completed, Fee-Funded Summer Day and Evening Camp Health History and Council’s Summer Day and Evening Camper Medication Permission Form. For Sleep Away Camp the following forms need to be completed, Health Care Services, Health Examination Form and Camper Medication and Treatment Form. For both Day and Evening Camp and Sleep Away Camp the Health History and the Health Care Services forms are filled out by the parent and authorize medical care treatment for the child. The Camper Medication Permission Form, Health Examination Form and the Camper Medication and Treatment Form are completed by both the parent and guardian and the child's doctor. All girls attending public, private or public charter schools need only inform Council of their attendance in school, and that their immunizations are on file with said school. Council no longer requires proof of immunizations for Day, Evening or Overnight Camps for girls in school. Girls, however, must disclose medical or religious Exemptions to immunizations. Girls in this category must provide proof of exemption. All Home-Schooled girls must provide proof of immunizations.
