Tashia Mason, member of Girl Scout Troop 41121, was awarded the Medal of Honor for her lifesaving skills when she helped rescue family members from their house after a tree fell on it during Hurricane Michael in October 2018. Award ceremonies were held in Greensboro, Hendersonville and Hickory on May 19, 2019.

Outdoor Experiences

32 weekend camp programs accommodated 832 girls

4,019 girls experienced camp through rentals made by our members

1,336 girls attended resident summer camp programs

213 girls attended summer day camp programs

87 troops (1,227 girls and 348 adults) camped at non-council sites

220 troops (2,109 girls and 880 adults) participated in outdoor activities at local parks

138 troops (1,713 girls and 552 adults) participated in outdoor activities at state and national parks

Partnered with the following State Parks for the first annual Girl Scouts Love State Parks event: South Mountain State Park, Pilot Mountain State Park, Stone Mountain State Park, Mount Mitchell State Park, Kings Mountain State Park

Camp Improvements:

⬥ Repaired the front parking lot at Keyauwee Program Center

⬥ Painted the units and buildings at Keyauwee Program Center

⬥ The Women Roofers donated their time and effort to replace the roof of the ranger’s house at Camp Ginger Cascades. Afterward, the house was painted.

⬥ Extensive road work was done at Camp Pisgah

⬥ Westfeldt at Camp Pisgah was painted

⬥ Four bridges and a dock were replaced/repaired after sustaining hurricane damage

Entrepreneurial Experiences Cookie Program

Fall Product Program

⬥ 2,202 girls participated

⬥ 53,088 total products sold

⬥ 24 was the average number of products sold per girl

⬥ $68,952 paid to troops

⬥ 23 Cookies 101 sessions supported new leaders’ understanding of the Girl Scout Cookie Program

⬥ 7,719 girls participated

⬥ 2,012,773 total cookies sold

⬥ 261 was the average number of cookies sold per girl

⬥ $1,258,828 paid to troops

⬥ 47,714 cookies sold and delivered to military through Operation Sweet Treat - the highest ever for our council

⬥ $25,000 in scholarships were awarded to 22 girls, including the top three cookie sellers council-wide for the year

Madeline Duvall, member of Girl Scout Troop 41747, was awarded a $1,000 academic scholarship from Equus due to her volunteer work as a Riding Instructor in Training (RIIT) at Circle C Equestrian Center.

STEM Experiences

5 Ozobot program tubs donated for troops to sign-out

Strategic Plan Highlights

GSCP2P finished the first year of a three-year strategic plan. Some highlights of the work achieved this fiscal year include:

⬥ Increased social media presence on Facebook and Instagram, including spotlights on Gold Award Girl Scouts and the creation of Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont Events group.

⬥ Staff Needs Assessment completed for designing

⬥ Progress made toward achievement of national Service Enterprise Organization certfication as part of becoming more volunteer-centric.

⬥ Current staffing costs and salary grades/ranges benchmarked against regional and national nonprofit data. GSCP2P is average on staffing costs and salary ranges are aligned with regional and national nonprofit data.

⬥ Our Daisy Circle for young alums transitioned from a giving circle to a young alum association.

⬥ Two Women of Distinction events were held in Winston-Salem and Asheville honoring Girl Scout alums and honorees.

Members of Girl Scout Troops 203 and 204 gifted Ozobots to our council in honor of Alice Pearce and in memory of Jane Stam. These women served as Girl Scout troop leaders of Troop 204 (Alice) and Troop 203 (Jane) from 1956 to 1966. Murphy Capps, Hannah Holcomb, Kathleen Kelly, Roberta Madden and Kristen Wheeler were honored at the 2019 Women of Distinction events.
