Lunch & Learn Series: Call for Leads - Issue 35

The COSM HHMI IE3 Initiative Grant is pleased to announce this call for two co-leads for the Lunch & Learn (L&L) series. The L&L series, founded and previously led by Dr. Sabrina Hessinger, covers teaching with a focus on practical, easy-to-implement, high-impact strategies.

The L&L co-leads will organize college-wide L&L conversations on best-practices in teaching and will receive a summer compensation of $1,000 each. Deliverables for the co-leads include:

• Organizing three L&L college-wide conversations each semester, fall and spring

• Establishing each semester’s schedule and sharing those dates with the college by the second week of Feb./Sept. in spring/fall.

• Tracking attendance for each session

• Gathering feedback for each session

• If appropriate, enhancing the L&L series in response to attendees’ feedback

• A commitment to serve as a co-lead for at least two semesters, fall and spring

• The approval of the Unit Chair/Director to serve in this co-lead role

All COSM faculty are eligible to apply.

Persons who have led or are currently leading instructional development sessions that can be seamlessly expanded to college-wide offerings are especially encouraged to apply.

• A cover letter describing (a) the reason for your interest in this co-lead role, and (b) proposed plans for the L&L series. (maximum number of words: 900 words. This word count does not include salutation(s), date, address(es), and headings)

• Your current CV or resume highlighting teaching accomplishments

• To verify the approval of your Chair/Director, include the following line in your email “My Chair/Director approves of my application.”
