Alumni Engagement Efforts

The College of Science and Mathematics needs to be a better job of engaging our alumni. In my six months at Georgia Southern, I have been learning more and more about the outstanding graduates from all of our programs. One of my tasks for this year is to develop a structured and strategic effort to engage the COSM alumni. I know that departments have some efforts underway, such as the Geography and Geology Alumni Breakfast. However, we can do better. Engaging our alumni in meaningful ways provides a variety of opportunities to enrich the educational experiences of our current students, provide needed information to assist with the recruitment of new students, develop potential employment and internship opportunities for our current students, and much, much more. Over the coming weeks and months, you will hear more from me on opportunities to assist with the creation of a strong and vibrant alumni engagement program. The graphic below provides some insights into what I envision. Through the COSM Alumni Engagement Ecosystem, I think we will continue to grow and strengthen our programs.
